This is the formal greeting of the Masai, and the answer to that question is, “all the children are well” which implies that peace and safety prevail, it means that the children are well fed and looked after, it means that the daily struggle of existence does not prevent proper care for the young and helpless.

If we were to greet each other in a similar way, what would our answer be?

Currently when we look around us, we realize on deep reflection that we cannot say “our children are well.”

Our children suffer greatly at the hands of our parents, caregivers, and our nation's unresolved trauma. Hurt people -hurt people, unconsciously and un-intentionally.

Trauma is any state where you find yourself feeling helpless, and that is what our children are, they are helpless, and we are the ones that need to make their environment as safe and peaceful as possible in order for them to grow and flourish.

Feeling safe is crucial to our well being - it affects our general health, it helps the child to learn, it makes life more enjoyable and it ensures that we make the best of our entire human experience.

All living organisms have a survival mechanism as well as a restorative mechanism built into our systems. In mammals we call it the flight, fight and freeze response. It is our ally. But what if you cannot fight or flee as so many of our children growing up in unsafe environments experience? That is when the freeze response kicks in. Unfortunately, we have suppressed the restorative mechanism, therefore we can stay in the freeze response for the rest of our lives.The body never forgets. Research is showing us that we can trace most of our adult illnesses back to adverse childhood experiences, to the point where it can shorten our lives by twenty years.

Trauma does not have to mark us for life! We can recover from it by releasing the trauma from our bodies, by doing trauma releasing exercises.

This modality is known as TRE ™ TRE is a set of six safe and simple exercises designed to switch on our natural healing mechanism. It manifests in the form of “tremoring” – we are literally shaking the trauma from our bodies. It is a safe process and can be done by old and young alike as well as in groups.TRE is a modality that will empower you to take responsibility for your own healing.
