GEELHOUTVLEI TIMBERS DISASTER RELIEF After thirty years of integrated operations in the Garden Route, Geelhoutvlei sawmill, farm and homestead were destroyed in a firestorm on Monday 29th October 2018.

Thanks to the discipline of all, employees were evacuated safely.

The effects on the local and Cape economy will be felt for some time but no more acutely than by the over four hundred employees and their thousands of dependants, over 90% of whom come from very poor and disadvantaged communities.

We thank all our suppliers and customers who have been such wonderful members of the extended Geelhoutvlei family. We have been overwhelmed by the love and support of people across the country. The constant cry has been “what can we do to help”?

SHOP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED We would like to ask for help in our charity shop in Long str, Knysna over the upcoming seasonal period. Many of our faithful shop volunteers will be away but this is historically one of the busiest mes for our shop as people revamp or clean up the homes. The income from our shops bring in a large por on of our funds and we need to keep this up. Shop hours are 10am ll 2pm Monday to Thursday, 10am ll 4pm on Fridays and 9am ll 12pm on Saturdays. Volunteers could volunteer to fill in any slot, even if it’s just 2 hours. Volunteering in the shop doesn’t require retail experience, it’s mostly gree ng and assis ng customers, watching for the , monitoring the in the change rooms, dying the rails etc.
