What is the County Veterans Service Office?
The County Veterans Service Office (CVSO) is established by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors to assist veterans, family members, and dependents in obtaining benefits from federal, state, and local agencies administering programs for veterans. We are an office within the Alameda County Social Services Agency. We are not the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet).
Our Purpose
The Alameda County Veterans Service Office provides veterans, their dependents and survivors with information regarding US Department of Veterans Affairs and CalVet benefits, and to help file claims for these benefits.
What We Can Help With • VA Compensation: Service-connected injuries or diseases
• Dependency Indemnity Compensation: Survivors annuity based on serviceconnected death of a qualified veteran
• Veterans Pension: For qualified wartime veterans
