opefully, as we move toward 100 percent vaccinations in the US, or some percentage very close to that, we will not forget to carry with us the acts of kindness we have heard of and witnessed during this time. I hope we remember that individual actions can collectively change lives. This is true not just in the context of a pandemic but in every aspect of our society. As Social Services Agency employees, you know this better than most. This pandemic is unlike anything we have seen in our lifetimes. We saw the world shrink as we watched the spread, and it transformed our lives. When we look back, here’s what I hope we carry forward.
• I hope that we have a greater appreciation of how inextricably
connected we are, and that globalism reaches far beyond our economy.
• I hope we appreciate the role of teachers and the profound impact they have on our children. I hope we recognize that their contributions are priceless and compensate them accordingly. • I hope we appreciate that this planet is on loan to us as momentary caretakers and that we begin to take our job of conserving it more seriously.
