Message from Executive Director

四⽉的多倫多，時晴時⾬，還有雲彩和⽇全蝕，這個⽉，

AcrossU-hub慶祝國際義⼯週和回應地球⽇，舉辦的活動 都呈現我們的使命和價值觀。九位服務AcrossU-hub兩年 ⾄⼆⼗年的義⼯獲得了安⼤略省義⼯奬的榮譽，他們的付 出和熱情塑造AcrossU-hub成為今天⼀個充滿活⼒的群 體。此外，我們還參與了萬錦市的Adopt-A-Park項⽬，負 責關顧鄰近的RisebroughPark，保持⼀個清潔和健康的 休憩公園。

與忠⼼的義⼯們同⾏25年，我得到真誠的友誼、受到關 愛、信任和⽀持。AcrossU-hub的義⼯不僅是任務執⾏ 者，他們有很多機會發表關注的議題，表達學習的祈願， 並獲得導師的指導和朋輩的⽀持，這是⼀個啟發成⻑的體 驗。我們深信每個年輕⼈都有成⻑和追求進步的渴望， AcrossU-hub是⼀個平台，啟發年輕⼈定⽴⽬標，並共同 努⼒實現這些⽬標。

⾒證獲奬和那些捲起袖⼦打掃公園的義⼯，重新確認了我 們與年輕⼈ 起成⻑的願景。誠摯邀請年輕⼈積極參與我 們的星期⼆義⼯計劃，加⼊同⾏同成⻑的⾏列，在這裏他 們可以發揮潛能，培育正⾯的價值觀，並建⽴⼀個健康的 群體。讓我們攜⼿共建 個健康的群體。

As April unfolds with its mix of clouds, sunshine, rain and solar eclipse, it serves as a poignant reminder of the vibrancy of this season. This month holds special significance for us at Across U-hub as we celebrate National Volunteer Week and Earth Day

I am thrilled to share those nine exceptional volunteers, with service ranging from 2 to 20 years, have been honored with the Ontario Volunteer Service Award Their dedication and passion have been instrumental in shaping Across U-hub into the vibrant community it is today. Alongside this recognition, I am delighted to announce that Across U-hub has adopted Risebrough Park, affirming our commitment to nurturing a clean and healthy environment for our community to thrive.

Reflecting on over 25 years of walking alongside dedicated volunteers, I am humbled by the sense of belonging, genuine friendships, care, trust, and support that permeate our community. Volunteering is no longer just a giving gesture; it's a transformative experience where volunteers have ample opportunities to voice their concerns, express their learning aspirations, and receive invaluable mentorship.

At Across U-hub, inspiration is the cornerstone of our volunteer program. We believe in the inherent desire in everyone to grow and excel, especially in their youth. Our platform serves for young individuals to set goals and collaboratively work towards achieving them as a community.

Witnessing recipients of the Ontario Volunteer Service Award and those rolling up their sleeves to clean up the park reaffirms our vision of building a community that nurtures growth. We invite all young people to join our Tuesday volunteer program, where they can discover their unique potential and make a lasting impact on themselves.

2024 Ontario Volunteer Service Award Volunteer Sharing

Timefliesby;IcanhardlybelieveIhavebeen volunteeringatAcrossformorethanyearsnow. Participatinginvariousactivitiessuchasorganizingshoe boxes,gettingmyhandsdirtyintree-plantingprojects, contributinginCityMosaic,andhelpingcoordinate successfulfundraisinggalashastrulyshapedmyjourney. Acrosshasbecomeasecondhomeforme,aplacewhere I'venotonlygivenbackbutalsogrownpersonally. Duringmytimehere,Ihavehadtheprivilegeofmeeting incrediblepeoplewhohavebecomebothmentorsand friends.

I'mimmenselygratefultoAcrossfortheopportunityand fortheOSA'srecognitionofmycommitmentto communityservice.It'sahumblinghonor.Moving forward,Iameagertocontinueservingmycommunity, leveragingtheexperiencesandknowledgeI'vegainedto makeameaningfulimpactinthelivesofthoseinneed. I'meagerlylookingforwardtoreachingthenext milestoneofyearswithAcross,andbeyond!

2024 Ontario Volunteer Service Award Volunteer Sharing

作为⼀位初来燃动青年的志愿者，我很有幸受邀与燃动青年

的新旧义⼯们 同参加安省举办的志愿服务表彰晚会。晚会

有⼏百号来宾，各个年龄段的都有，各个族裔也很⻬全。上

台领奖的前⼀刻我忽有些踌躇，觉得⾃⼰在燃动青年短短两

年的经历相⽐于那些将半⽣投⼊志愿服务并做出惊天动地的 壮举的⼈显得⼗分不值 提。所以为什么还要提名我呢？我

转向⾝旁的Nicole， 脸疑惑不解。对于 个才过⼗⼋的⼈

来说，两年已经相当久了，她说。⽽且，公益服务不在于时 间的⻓短，⽽在于从⼩培养 颗善⼼。这次我特意提名了像

你这样的年轻⼈，就是想对你们迈出的这 ⼩步给予肯定，

以此来激励你们真正⾛上志愿服务的道路。此时我才留意到 了后⾯向我热情招呼的Alex，⼀位⻓期为燃动青年效劳的义 ⼯，还有多年来在幕后⾟勤付出的创始⼈之 Terence，还

有更远处坐着的是 ⾏⽩发苍苍的⽼⼈。我仿佛看到了⼗年 后、⼆⼗年后、五⼗年后的⾃⼰，依旧热⼼公益，⽮志不 渝。我默默下定了决⼼。
