COMIC CON -
HANDY HINTS FOR A WEEKEND OF FUN.
STAYING SAFE AT COMIC CON
We take your safety at Comic Con very seriously. While we do everything possible to create a safe space with an extensive, qualified security team, we wanted to share some tips and advice for attending.
ASK FOR ANGELA
Whilst we, along with the SEC’s qualified security team, endeavour to create a safe environment at Comic Con, it’s really important that if you feel unsafe at any time, please notify security or a staff member immediately.
We are adopting the “Ask for Angela” system. If, at any time, you would like to be removed discretely from a situation or speak in private to a staff member about a situation, you can simply ask, “Hey, do you know where Angela is?”
NEW FRIENDS
While meeting up with new people you’ve become friends with online is awesome, they might not always be the person you thought they were online.
- Don’t go alone when meeting a new friend in person for the first time
- Stay within the SEC grounds where security is present.
- If you feel uncomfortable, you can find a staff member and use our “Ask for Angela” system.
STAY CHARGED
Access to a phone can be critical while at a con in case you’re separated from friends or family. Always carry a powerbank and a charger so you can recharge your phone on the go. As an extra step, you can organise a “Meeting point” with your group if you’re separated, and as always, if you need help, you can ask a staff member who can be identified by their T-shirt.
QUIET SPACE
If you or a friend may need access to a quiet space, please check our floor plan in advance to see where it is located. Alternatively, on the day, you can ask a staff member.
EAR DEFENDERS
We also have free ear defenders for anyone who may need them. Please note that we do require a deposit of £5, which will be returned when the ear defenders are returned.
STAY FUELED
It’s easy to do many steps and work up an appetite on a con day. Remember, you can bring your water bottle with free refill stations across the SEC, and it’s always a good idea to have some emergency snacks on hand for you or a friend. If you forget, don’t worry—food will be available on-site, including the Morrison’s Daily on the concourse.

MEETING A GUEST!
STEP 1
Purchase a ticket! We recommend doing this in advance so that you are guaranteed a spot to meet your favourite guest. Make sure you also have a ticket to enter the convention that day as these are sold separately and check out the optional extras.
STEP 2
On the day, show your email receipt or name it was booked under for staff at the guest signing area. You can also purchase direct from the table. While waiting, prepare your item to sign if you have brought something, or choose an 8x10 print to get signed from the table.
STEP 3
It’s time to meet the guests and chat. Have your item ready to hand them, or choose from a print they have available.
