Founded in 1906, AC Martin is one of the oldest architecture and planning firms in California. With a continuous design legacy Spanning more than three generations, the firm continues to be recognized today as an architectural thought and practice leader.

Riverside, California

AC Martin performed architectural and engineering services for the main West Coast distribution facility for Sysco. This project utilizes AC Martin’s enhanced prototype distribution design that was specifically developed for Sysco Food Services and has been constructed in multiple locations throughout the United States. Features of this project include: •

Approximately 216,000 SF freezer, cold storage, and cold dock

Sysco Production Facility PROJECT SIZE: 138,000 SF Facility FACILITY TYPE: Food Processing, Cold Storage

Houston, Texas

Our team performed programming and full architectural design services for Sysco Corporation for a 138,000 SF food production and cold storage facility. We worked closely with Sysco Food Services to combine the operations of two acclaimed Texas specialty food producers under one roof. The result is a state-of-the-art facility for finish production of seafood, beef, and poultry. The building features:

Cool Port's cargo-handling is 100% electric-powered and is projected to prevent nearly 9,000 pounds of CO2 emissions in its first five years.

PROJECT SIZE: 275,000 SF Warehouse

AC Martin designed a state-of-the-art intermodal temperature-controlled trans-load and consolidation facility on the 22-acre site for perishable commodities.

FACILITY TYPE: Distribution, Cold Storage

It handles 9,000 railcars and more than 50,000 cargo containers on an annual basis. The facility provides solar and fuel cell technology for power generation, natural gas power for yard trucks, and uses natural refrigerants to reduce harmful carbon compound release.

Various Cities, California

Colton: AC Martin provided full architectural services for Lineage Logistic's distribution facility in Colton, California. The facility includes a cross-dock area, partitioned and convertible freezer area, banana ripening rooms, and dry storage. The facility was constructed of concrete tilt-up walls, insulated metal panel walls over a steel frame. Vernon: This facility consists of two low temperature buildings. These buildings house a -20 degree freezer, coolers, cold docks, two-story office area, and subterranean parking. The facility is of concrete tilt-up construction. Riverside: We provided thermal design for freezer and cold storage in a pre-permitted building. The facility handles over 300 trucks per day. Interior features include refrigerated docks, partitioned convertible rooms varying between -20° and +45°, and dry warehouse.

Preferred Freezer Services, now part of Lineage Logistics, is one of the world’s largest refrigerated warehouse companies with facilities throughout the United States and Asia. AC Martin has provided full architectural services, incorporating many of Preferred Freezer Services’ features including: •

Direct Relief

Santa Barbara, California

Direct Relief is a non-profit firm providing medical disaster relief material to hardhit communities worldwide. Our team provided architectural services for their new 156,000 SF headquarters and distribution facility located in Santa Barbara, CA under a Design-Build contract. This project features ambient and cold storage warehouse space and two-story office with spacious lobby, an auditorium, several conference rooms, and several large assembly spaces to accommodate volunteers. The building also features innovative technologies such as a microgrid system with integrated battery storage and generators making it possible to lengthen significantly the storage life of supplies.

Konoike-Pacific California expanded at its current location with a ground-up, tilt-up concrete cold storage facility, with steel framed insulated metal panel siding to match the existing building. The facility includes a convertible area of varying temperature, cold dock, and a limited office area. With an intended use for long term storage of food products, the facility is equipped with an automated HDR system and a 75-foot height to accommodate a mezzanine level. •

Confidential Studio Sound Stage Campus PROJECT SIZE: 798,000 SF Overall FACILITY TYPE: Sound Stages CLIENT: Confidential GENERAL CONTRACTOR: Turner Construction

Santa Clarita, California

This development consists of 798,000 SF of 28 state-of-the-art film sound stages in seven buildings with attached four-story annex for film support facilities and production offices. Each 52 ft. high concrete tilt-up longspan stage structure attains 40 ft. clear heights. This new sound stage complex will achieve a significant increase in the number of stages in the LA area. A four-level parking structure was designed for traffic volume resulting from the size of the complex. Development on this constrained site included the requirement for 18-wheeler truck circulation for delivery of sets and equipment.

Union City, California

Growth of La Terra Fina’s quiche and dips production demands required AC Martin’s services to design an expansion of their existing facility for packaging, cold and ambient storage, and loading docks in their Bay Area facility. In addition, AC Martin and its team of consultants created a phased design for the renovation of the entire existing food processing area with special requirements for water treatment, refuse handling, and advanced packaging equipment for high-pressure pasteurization.

Mesa, Arizona

AC Martin developed yield studies through construction documents for these distribution and light manufacturing warehouses. The 40-acre site includes five tilt- up concrete warehouses, one of which is 300,000 SF. Proximity of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport restricted parapet heights and created a challenge to achieve efficient 32 ft. interior clear heights. Elevations and prominent entry reflect Arizona desert and sky colors.



Germann Industrial Park PROJECT SIZE: 700,000 SF Overall FACILITY TYPE: Distribution and Light Manufacturing CLIENT: Cityview GENERAL CONTRACTOR: Layton Construction

Mesa, Arizona

AC Martin developed yield studies through construction documents for six tilt-up warehouses on 40-acres consisting of a 700,000 SF distribution and a light manufacturing warehouse. Severe limits on parapet height created a challenge coordinating with structural and mechanical consultants to achieve 32 ft. height for efficient racking. Elevations and entry have been designed to reflect subtle Arizona desert colors.

Ontario, California

The Maglite headquarters consists of a 30-acre, 795,000 SF facility employing 1,200 people and housing the administrative offices, machining, fabrication, finishing, warehousing, shipping and receiving functions for the flashlight manufacturer. We provided full architectural and engineering services for sitework, shell construction, equipment installation, and manufacturing system layout improvements. The project was completed under a multiphase schedule in order to synchronize installation of new manufacturing equipment with on-going manufacturing operations.

Union City, California

Coast Citrus Distributors is a major wholesaler of fruits and vegetables in the United States and Mexico. The ground-up facility includes dry warehouse, ripening rooms, two stories of offices, and 18,000 SF of cold storage. Construction is tilt-up concrete.

This ground-up 203,000 SF facility serves as a strategic location for the Japan-based company's distribution needs.The new facility is the company’s first greenfield operation, designed to meet the specific requirements of the aerospace industry. The facility features refrigerated and ambient temperature warehouse space designed to enable maximum flexibility and secure storage of products.
