FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you offer before and after care?

Yes! We offer morning care from 8am - 9am and afternoon care from 3:30pm - 5:30pm. Morning care is $40 a week, afternoon care is $80 a week, and if a camper is registered for both AM and PM care, we offer a combined reduce rate of $100 per week

Are closed for any Holidays this summer?

Allendale Columbia observes both Juneteenth and Independence Day. Therefore there will be no camps on 6/19 or 7/4.

Do you provide lunch and snacks?

Aside from the AC3s / Pre-K camp, campers are asked to bring their own NUT FREE lunch and water bottle every day. Half day campers should bring a snack and a water bottle every day.

If my child attends a morning camp and a different afternoon camp, when will they eat lunch?

If your child attends a morning camp and then transitions to another camp at 12pm, they are welcome to eat their lunch at either the end of the first camp, or at the beginning of their second camp. We will also provide supervision to take place in our dining commons for the transition period as morning campers are getting picked up, and afternoon campers are getting picked up.

What is AC’s nut-free policy?

We are a nut-free school and follow a policy of not distributing any peanuts, tree nuts, or products containing nuts. For additional information, please contact our Food Services Director, Laura ReynoldsGorsuch

Are camps open to participants that don’t attend AC?

Yes! In fact, a majority of our summer campers don’t attend AC during the school year. We welcome all to join us in the summer!

After registration, when will we hear more about the camps we signed up for?

We will send information at least a week in advance with important information regarding drop off / pick up, what to bring to camp, and all other details you may need to know!

REFUND & REGISTRATION POLICY

All camp fees are expected to be paid in full at the time of registration. In addition, please review our cancellation policy below:

100% refund if cancellations made by June 1st

50% refund if cancellations made by June 15th

No refunds after June 15th

No prorating exceptions will be made. Camper registrations will need to be paid in full whether attending a partial week or a full week.

If a summer camp has not met its minimum enrollment within 2 weeks of that summer program starting, all registered campers will be notified that the camp will not run and be issued a full refund including the registration / supplies fee. We will try our best to give campers as much notice as possible if it looks like a camp is in jeopardy of being canceled.

If a camper is sick or unable to make their registered summer program, please let their camp instructor know ASAP.

DARK ROOM DISCOVERY

Instructor: Sara Rogers

Camp Fee $195

Designed for graders 5th-12th, this hands-on camp offers a unique opportunity to explore the magic of film photography. Campers will learn how to shoot on manual film cameras, develop their own black-and-white film, and bring their photos to life in the darkroom. Through fun projects and creative challenges, participants will discover the art and science of photography while building confidence and artistic skills. No prior experience needed—just a love for creativity and discovery!

COOKING CAMP

Instructor: Margaret Tolhurst

Camp Fee $250

Research shows children who are involved with cooking arebetter, healthier eaters. Have fun as we learn to cook delicious,healthy meals. Together we will research the recipes, plan the menu, calculate serving sizes, prepare ingredients, and cook the food. We will prepare a different full meal with dessert each day, taste our creations, and then package them to take home!

SUMMER DANCE CAMP

Camp Fee $150

Move your way through summer by enjoying a fun-filled, week-long dance camp! No prior dance experience is needed. From graceful ballet to upbeat jazz, your child will have a blast learning choreographed dances while building coordination, balance, flexibility and strength. Each day will conclude with a dance-themed craft, allowing campers to explore their artistic side and create a special keepsake to take home.

*Campers can wear a leotard and tights or any comfortable clothing. Tutus are welcome! Please bring a nut-free snack and a large, pre-filled water bottle each day.

SUMMER OF SCIENCE

FAIRIES & PIXIE DUST

Come and explore the enchanting and magical land of fairies. This week will be filled with music, dance, art projects, dress-up and pixie dust. We will make our own fairy houses, fairy wands, and various other magical creations as we have fun trying to uncover the mystical world of fairies. Our final class will lead us to an exciting Fairy Scavenger Hunt Adventure! Fairy wings are welcome!!

*Please bring a nut free morning and afternoon snack, lunch and a pre-filled water bottle, a change of clothes and a backpack each day.

Calling all animal lovers! The King's are at it again, teaming up to bring you the ultimate animal experience this summer! Whether you're curious about what it takes to be a veterinarian or just love diving into exciting hands-on activities, this camp is your perfect adventure.

Join us for a multi-age experience where you'll:

"Perform surgery" on a stuffed animal and get a taste of what it's like to care for animals. Take on an oil spill simulation and discover how to rescue and clean up affected animals.

Meet real live animals up close and personal.

Explore a ton of other wild activities that will spark your passion for animals!

No medical background required—just bring your curiosity, a love for animals, and a whole lot of excitement for the fun ahead!

CAKE DECORATING & CANDY MAKING

Join us for a delicious, fun, hands-on, learning, EDIBLE camp! If your child likes to bake, wants to help in the kitchen, loves dessert shows on TV... this is the camp for you! We will have a variety of activities each day: baking, decorating, food safety, candy making, and gifting. Some activities and creations include cupcakes, cake pops, cookies, and a layer cake plus chocolate candy, sugar candy, and more! The best part? Every day campers will take home their creations. The main focus of camp is to inspire your child, their love of baking and candy making, and the art of cake decorating and beautiful foods.

Please come to camp with a lunch and a morning and afternoon snack, plus a refillable water bottle. All materials and ingredients will be provided for you and campers will go home with their own baking kit at the end of the week.

MINECRAFT ADVENTURES 4 KIDS

Are you ready to take your Minecraft skills to the next level? This program focuses on building adventures and teaches participants about interactive world building as well as game design. This fun and engaging Minecraft program will spark interests in STEM, foster creativity and help participants use Minecraft as an exciting learning tool. No prior experience with Minecraft necessary. All skill levels welcome.

CURIOUS MINDS SCIENCE CAMP

Get ready for a week of discovery, creativity, and hands-on fun at Curious Minds Science Camp! Each day, young scientists will explore a different branch of science—biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, and engineering—through the stories of incredible scientists from history.

Campers will dive into exciting experiments, crafts, and interactive activities that bring science to life! Throughout the week, we’ll meet trailblazing scientists. We’ll explore their contributions and inspire campers to see themselves as future scientists and inventors!

Looking for a summer filled with fun, adventure, and new friendships? Join us at AC Day Camp, where every day is packed with exciting activities, creative exploration, and outdoor adventures! AC Day Camp is designed for children rising K - 5th Graders and offers a variety of engaging experiences, including outdoor games and team challengers, arts and crafts, nature exploration, sports, water play, field trips and more! Pick and choose which weeks attend, or attend all 4 weeks!

KIDS CLAY CAMP

Instructor: Greg Lawson

Camp Fee: $320

Campers will spend the full week discovering the wonders of clay magic while creating original pottery and hand-built creatures. Kids will learn foundation skills in pottery, terminology, clay tools, and the stages of clay from earthenware to glazed bisqueware. Kids Clay Camp offers each camper to explore clay construction with slab, pinch, and coil construction. All campers will have the opportunity to have at least two experiences on the pottery wheel.

*Campers will have opportunities throughout camp to break away from the studio for outdoor recreation (weather permitting) such as kickball, soccer, basketball, playground time, chalk drawing, and hiking/nature exploring. For the Rainy days, we have indoor activities such as boardgames, uno, and other team building activities. Popsicles provided every day after lunch!

A SENSE OF WONDER NATURE CAMP

Instructor: Christine Sheehan

Camp Fee: $225 half day or $360 full day

Embark on an adventure through the wonders of nature at our immersive camp designed for kindergarten through fourth-grade explorers! Each day will be an opportunity to foster a deeper connection with the environment. Our camp encourages exploration and discovery in the great outdoors and our budding naturalists will engage in hands-on activities and games, daily hikes, and adventures. Equipped with their own nature journals, young adventurers will document their observations and record their findings. We plan to be outside rain or shine, and campers should wear older clothes/boots or sturdy shoes. Water shoes may be brought as well. Please apply sunscreen and/or bug spray (if it’s a wet summer) before camp. Please bring a nut-free snack and/or lunch and a pre-filled and labeled water bottle each day. Cost half day: $225; full day: $360

*Families have the option for their child to attend in the morning, the afternoon, or for the full day. Morning adventures will focus on observing and interacting with the environment. Afternoon adventures will focus on observing and creating based on observations made in the field and will have more of a STEAM focus.

ACT! SUMMER STAGE: 13 THE MUSICAL

Instructors: Amanda Meldrum & Rachel Hucko

Camp Fee: $400

Middle school-aged campers are invited to perform in a show that’s all about what it’s like being 13 years old! The storyline follows an up and coming teen while he navigates the complicated social scence of middle school, dealing with cliques, friendships, crushes and rivalries. In his quest to be popular, he learns important lessons about acceptance, kindess, and being true to himself.

*Please note: This camp will run until 4pm and fee is for 2 weeks. Campers must attend both weeks. *Performances planned for Friday, July 18th at 7pm and Saturday, July 19th at 2pm

DREAM IT! BUILD IT!

Instructor: Christine Sheehan

Camp Fee: $225

Let your child’s imagination soar at our “Dream It, Build It” camp, designed for budding innovators from kindergarten to 4th grade. This engaging STEAM camp inspires big dreams and hands-on creativity as participants transform their ideas into reality. From constructing with LEGO bricks to crafting with repurposed materials, campers will explore exciting ways to understand the world around them. With a focus on science, engineering, and art, children will have the opportunity to plan, design, and execute projects both independently and collaboratively. “Dream It, Build It” nurtures creativity, critical thinking, and problemsolving skills while inspiring a playful curiosity and enthusiasm for science.

Please inform us if your child has any food allergies, as some activities may involve food-based materials. Campers should bring a snack and/or lunch, and a labeled, pre-filled water bottle each day.

CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE

This camp is inspired by the Choose Your Own Adventure books as you step into a world where you decide the story! At Choose Your Own Adventure Camp, every day is a thrilling new journey filled with mystery, exploration, and unexpected twists. Campers will enjoy activities which will include but not limited to: playground visits, hikes and fairy trails, crafts, rock painting , creating galaxy and mindfulness bottles, salt scrubs, and more!

GET PHOTOSHOPPED!

Instructor: Greg Lawson

Camp Fee: $280

Campers will spend the full week learning the necessary tools to manipulate and merge original and stock photos. Use digital cameras, MAC computers, and adobe programs (Photoshop and Illustrator) to compose, capture, combine, generate new and exciting images. Grapple with ethical use of images as you learn new PS and AI tools to create your own imagery.

Campers have opportunities throughout camp to break away from the studio for outdoor recreation (weather permitting) such as kickball, soccer, basketball, playground time, chalk drawing, and hiking/nature exploring. For the Rainy days, we have indoor activities such as board games, Uno, and other team building activities. Popsicles provided every day after lunch!

WONDERFUL WORLD OF WONKA

Camp Fee: $320

“Come with me and you’ll be in a world of pure imagination....” Bring your Golden Ticket and your imagination and we will have a sweet and adventurous week. This camp will be filled with cool candy experiments, dramatic play in a pretend candy factory, art, music, movement, dress-up, candy themed books and activities and so much more. For our final class, we will make a sweet, chocolate treat.

13 THE MUSICAL

Back by popular demand, it's Christmas in July. Let's have some winter fun while we deal with the summer. heat. In this camp, we focus on winter crafts while we listen to holiday music. Crafts will include trees, ornaments, and a hanging banner. We will paint, color, and create merry memories together. Come join me in this winter wonderland!

CURIOUS MINDS SCIENCE CAMP

Heart-pounding fun, thrilling rides and attractions, the sights and sounds of amusement parks are one of a kind. In the Science of Amusement Parks, participants will work with instructors as part of a team to learn the basic science and engineering behind roller coasters and other amusement park attractions. We will use Minecraft to create virtual rides and attractions to experience the thrill of the turns, tunnels and drops!

MIXED ON MEDIA

Instructors: Greg Lawson Camp Fee: $320

Campers will spend the full week discovering the wonderful combinations of drawing, painting, and a variety of other mixed media. Mixed media opens up possibilities of creating and allows us to freely make without judgment in an abstract or realistic style. Kids will dive into multiple painting materials such as watercolor paints, tempera paints, acrylic paints, oil pastels and much more. Mixed on Media Camp offers tons of fun while learning about color theory, visual communication, and material exploration. This will be an engaging introduction to mixed media application with a variety of projects and processes.

Campers have opportunities throughout camp to break away from the studio for outdoor recreation (weather permitting) such as kickball, soccer, basketball, playground time, chalk drawing, and hiking/nature exploring. HOGWARTS AC

Instructors: Tracey Vandernaald Camp Fee: $415

Do you enjoy all things wizarding and magical? Are you fans of the Harry Potter novels? If so, this is the camp for you. Experience the magic of the world of Harry Potter. All students will receive an acceptance letter, owl and HP related gift. Participate in challenges like the Triwizard tournament, Horcrux hunting, and protecting the Sorcerer's Stone and win the House Cup through daily trivia challenges and quidditch games. On Wednesday we will have a costume contest and Friday we will enjoy a Harry Potter themed gift exchange at our Yule Ball and Feast.

WONDERLAND

YOGA

Wendy Stumpf Camp Fee: $395

Our campers will enjoy a full day session of learning the practices of yoga, mindfulness & meditation through the lens of our littlest to slightly older yogi's. We will focus & learn various yoga poses, as well as individual yoga and some partner yoga, breathing techniques, mindfulness & meditation practices. We will also plan to spend time outdoors for recess where we will take mindful walks around campus and the nature trail, as well as spend time on the playground daily. Campers will enjoy our snack outside, weather permitting. Nut free lunch and snacks will need to be sent in daily for our yogi campers along with a pre-filled water bottle. In addition, each camper is asked to please wear clothes that they are able to move freely in, to experience the yoga poses.* They will also need to bring their own yoga mat. (*PLEASE No dresses, tunics, or any clothing that will inhibit their free movement. Thank you.)

Baptiste Yoga: Level 1, Level 2 and Art of Assisting. Midtown Athletic Club 200 Hr YTT.. Restorative Yoga Training with Judith Hanson Lasater. Children's Yoga with Kidding Around Yoga. As well as yoga and mindfulness trainings at Yoga Vibe, and Breathe.

UNDER THE SEA W/ MYISTICAL MERMAIDS

Calling all mermaids! Come and explore the magical world of mermaids during a week filled with under the sea themed adventures! This class will be filled with music, movement, mermaid stories and tales , art, dress-up and of course, seashells, starfish and many other under the sea friends. We will design mermaid tales, crowns and various other fabulous creations as we have fun uncovering the mysterious world of mermaids. We will end the week with a mystical mermaid treasure hunt.

Please bring a nut free morning and afternoon snack, lunch, a prefilled water bottle, an extra change of clothes and a backpack.

PRINTMAKING AND MORE!

Camp Fee: $320 Instructor: Greg Lawson

THEME: Everything Earth including the Stars! Campers will spend the full week discovering the wonders of printmaking using embossment, stamp, and relief techniques on specialty paper, textiles, and more. Kids learn basic printmaking vocabulary through group exploration and discovery while producing a variety of prints. This is a fun and engaging introduction to printmaking offering a wide range of outcomes.

Campers have opportunities throughout camp to break away from the studio for outdoor recreation (weather permitting) such as kickball, soccer, basketball, playground time, chalk drawing, and hiking/nature exploring. CAMP HALFBLOOD -

PERCY JACKSON, MYTHOLOGY & MORE!

Immerse yourself in the world of Percy Jackson and the fascinating world of Greek mythology. Upon arrival campers will be placed in a cabin. "Allendale Columbia Theatre (ACT) Summer Stage presents "A Year With Frog & Toad, Kids"! Join us for two full weeks of singing, dancing, and acting on stage! Campers will spend each morning actively learning the foundations of performing through the lens of ""A Year With Frog & Toad, Kids""! Campers will participate in an audition workshop on the first day before auditioning for their part. All campers enrolled will have a role on stage for our final performances at the end of the week.

This whimsical show follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog, and the rather grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons along the way. Join us for "Behind the Scenes" in the mornings before your "Disney's Dare to Dream Jr" rehearsals! We will learn the fundamentals of Behind the Scenes work - sets, lights, costumes, props, sound, program design, and more! Each camper will be able to assist behind the scenes in a design capacity and on a crew (stage crew, lighting, costumes, sound, ushers, etc.) during the younger campers' performance of "A Year WIth Frog & Toad, Kids". An important educational opportunity, all actors should explore a behind the scenes experience like this!

INTRO TO GRAPHIC DESIGN: CANVA

Create your own custom graphics and logos using the same tools as the pros. Together we'll explore what goes into creating graphic art with fun activities designed to show you the ropes. We'll experience what goes into building graphics for websites, school projects, personal use, and all other purposes in between. No prior experience is necessary. All skill levels are welcome.

Get ready to build, create, and problem-solve at LEGO Engineers Camp! Each day, campers will take on a brand-new engineering challenge, using LEGO bricks to design and build creative solutions to real-world problems. From constructing a city skyline to rescuing hikers up a mountain or designing a bridge to cross a river, young builders will put their imaginations and problem-solving skills to the test!

Throughout the week, campers will explore key engineering concepts like stability, balance, simple machines, and teamwork while tackling exciting hands-on challenges. They'll learn to think like engineers, experimenting with different designs, testing their creations, and improving their builds—just like real inventors and architects!

SEEING YOURSELF IN STEM

Did you know that everyone is a scientist?! Come play with your inner scientist and discover others like you while exploring different ways to be a STEMinist. In this camp you will immerse yourself in many different fields of science through participation in hands-on experiments, such as building the strongest tower or the most sturdy Mars rover, discovering how trees communicate, exploring how chemical reactions help us learn more about us and our environment, and more. Not only will you see yourself in STEM you will see how your passions outside of STEM can lead to STEM breakthroughs.

BOOKS & BAKING

There is nothing better than curling up with a good book and a tasty treat! Join me as we bake our way through books, chopping, mixing and measuring along the way. We will bake story themed treats to enjoy as we read books about fabulous foods.

"Disney's Dare to Dream Jr." is a musical revue that follows an eager group of trainees on their first day at a fictional Walt Disney Imagineering Studio. As the group sets out to help each other discover their dreams, they work together to explore the power of dreams to unite, inspire, and make anything possible. Drawing from a century of beloved Disney films, "Dare to Dream, Jr." features songs appearing for the first time ever in a Disney stage musical, including fan-favorites from "The Princess and the Frog", "Coco", "Encanto", and "Frozen II". This musical revue is a thrilling mix of contemporary songs, timeless classics, and brand-new medleys that are sure to surprise and delight Disney lovers of all ages.

STUDIO ART CAMP FOR BEGINNERS

Theme: Mythical Creatures, Monsters, & more! Campers will spend the full week exploring drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, collage, and a variety of other media. Our mornings begin with a short folklore story to focus and guide our imaginations before we jump in our creations. Kids will dive into multiple wet and dry materials such as color pencil, chalk, marker, watercolor paints, acrylic paints, and much more. Studio Art for Beginners offers tons of fun while learning about color, visual discovery, and material exploration. This will be an engaging introduction for all while creating a variety 2-D and 3-D mythical creatures.

Campers will have opportunities throughout camp to break away from the studio for outdoor recreation (weather permitting) such as kickball, soccer, basketball, playground time, chalk drawing, and hiking/nature exploring. For Rainy days, we have indoor activities such as board games, Uno, and other team building activities. Popsicles provided every day after lunch!
