Intersection A fateful meeting that leads to a lifetime of love

April 2009, An intersection in Los Angeles

The passenger in the women’s car (Jenny) rolls down the window and waves with a smile to the car of men. Their driver rolls down his window and smiles.

the story begins.

How are you guys doing?

Oh! We´re good! and how are you?

We are doing very well, thanks!

where are you heading?

Why don’t we all go back and hang out at my place?

Both cars enter the drive through, get burgers and fries and park in parking spots in the parking lot.

They all eat food, talk and laugh for a while.

Delcio and Marissa are sitting on a chair and couch, chatting together.

When I was in Brazil, I tried to learn some Portuguese – it’s such a beautiful language.

You’ve been to Brazil before? You know that I speak Portuguese and not Spanish!?

I went a couple years ago, and also visited Chile & Argentina.

I love to travel!

They discuss movies, books, etc until it starts to get really late

Can I get your phone number?

Can I walk you to your car?

I can do it really fast, I’m good with my hands.

That’s good because I just got this phone and don’t know how to use it.

Delcio calls her from his place in LA and asks her 20 questions before he decides if he will come visit her. Delcio on the cell phone in LA, Marissa in this apartment.

Are you married?

Are you sure you’re not married?

What is your favorite movie?

Do you want to have children?

You have passed my test. Can I come visit you next weekend?

Dogs or Cats?

Well, that’s good to know. I think that sounds great!

We can explore the city together – I only moved here 6 months ago.

Delcio arrives in a small red truck, his friend drops him off and Marissa greets him to come up the 3 flights of stairs to her apartment.

As he enters, Marissa wonders to herself why she already feels so comfortable with him – as if she has already known him forever. It’s a nice feeling.

Marissa flies to visit Delcio in Rio. They go to Ipanema, Cristo Retendor, Lapa.

They travel to Iguaçu Falls

They kayak together in a 2-person kayak and they are terrible at it.

The kayak keeps spinning in circles and they laugh their heads off.

you can drink on the street! It feels like a holiday or some special event.

Nope, it’s just a regular Friday.

promising to never try this again.

Marissa heads back to SF. Delcio continues to work in Rio at Estudio Icone.

Nightly SKYPE chats on the computer keep them connected on daily updates and they continue to plan for future visits…

Months later during Delcio’s visit to SF, Marissa walks in the front door and is surprised to find candles and roses on the entry table, with Delcio standing proudly in the middle of the living room straight ahead of her.

Will you marry me?

September 17, 2011.

The big day has arrived! Delcio and Marissa are getting married!

Under a big beautiful tree, at The Adamson House in Malibu.

Delcio shares his vows, they are beautiful and sweet. Marissa shares her vows – in English and in Portuguese, to the surprise of the crowd!

Several months later at the airport

Where is Louisiana?

It’s where New Orleans is, like in the middle of the country but south.

Um, we can’t move to Louisiana!

I just got an email that might be a really good career opportunity.

I have a job offer to go to Baton Rouge in Louisiana.

Huh?

t’s my way to break into the film industry – they are staffing up at a studio called If I get some Pixomond experience with them, then I can work at other movie studios. It is my dream to work in movies…

Their dog Lola loves the backyard and keeps Marissa company while Delcio hones his VFX skills.

Fall 2012.

Delcio and Marissa move to Carnegie Lane in Redondo Beach.

Marissa walks Lola at the beach and rides her favorite beach cruiser bike…

Meanwhile, Delcio is in full battle training to become a future Jedi Master of Visual Effects, putting in his long hours at the training grounds in the dark caves of Pixomondo, Luma & Blur

Until one day in 2014, he receives the call – the great Academy of VFX warriors wants him to join their force, the Industrial Light & Magic team

And they return to San Francisco

Delcio begins working at ILM, and Yoda welcomes him each day as he enters his office

Two years later, they get exciting news and move to Martinez.

so they move everything deeper into the suburbs…

In March 2017, the meet their adorable twin daughters – Isabella & Daniella

The rest of 2017 is a blur…

…And through it all they remain a great team!

Delcio and Marissa are just getting started in their Epic Tale

10 years of marriage, laughter, lots of great coffee, mutual support and love, career growth, starting a family (having twins!), buying and remodeling a house.

buying cars, managing through a global pandemic, hosting parties, making meals...

...sharing smiles and making memories.

My Honey, My Delcio, My Love I will always be thankful to that Lucky Intersection that brought us together. Who would have known that our lives would be forever changed in that brief moment?

Ten Years into our marriage and I reflect back on everything we have accomplished together. I hope I have been a good 'Second Player' for you, supporting you each step along the way in your career and life goals. You have certainly always been there for me, for us, for our family...and I am so lucky to be spending my life with you.

I had to capture this moment in time, celebrating our 10th anniversary, by documenting our story in a way I thought you would truly love. Look forward to writing our next chapters together.
