The digital textile printing sector: an Italian success story Undoubtedly, today digital transformation is one of the main development trends in the production processes of the textile industry. Although digital printing has not replaced the traditional one, everyone is predicting a positive future for the growth of digital printing. This because of the undoubted advantages it can give to the production process: flexibility in production; reduction of time to market; great creativity in terms of patterns and colours; high quality levels of the final product; low environmental and economic impact.

Italy, especially the Como area, has played a significant role in digital transformation. The main printing companies are Italian and the technology for digital textile printing has developed in Italy. Alongside the most famous brands of printing machines, the production of machinery related to the digital printing process (i.e. pre- and post-treatment, finishing, etc.) has flourished.

ACIMIT, the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, brings together most of these companies, which represent the excellence of digital printing technology.

The Italian sector of machines used in the digital textile printing process is estimated to be worth 300 million euros. Approximately 30 are ACIMIT companies operating in the sector. On average, 30% of their turnover comes from the sales of machines for digital printing process.

The companies sell their products especially in Europe (Italy, Portugal, Spain and Turkey) and Asia (China, India, Japan and Pakistan).

This catalog provides a non-exhaustive list of ACIMIT members companies involved in the digital textile printing sector.

Background on the Italy’s textile machinery industry and ACIMIT ACIMIT represents an industrial sector comprising around 300 manufacturers (employing close to 12,000 people) and producing machinery for an overall value of about 2.5 billion euros, with exports amounting to more than 83% of total sales. Creativity, sustainable technology, reliability and quality are the characteristics which have made Italy a global leader in the manufacturing of textile machinery.
