Perfluorinated Alkyl Substances (PFAS) Reference Materials

Perfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS), is a class of chemicals containing more than 4,000 congeners, refers to perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances containing at least one perfluorocarbon atom. The most commonly used are perfluorocarboxylic acids (PFCAs) and perfluorosulfonic acids (PFSAs). Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) are the most commonly detected pollutants in the environment. Recent studies have shown that more and more perfluorinated compounds have been detected in air, sediment, potable water, seawater and food. As an emerging type of persistent pollutant, the detection of perfluorinated compounds has attracted global attention. The EU, the United States, Canada and other countries have developed testing standards for perfluorinated compounds.
