Surname 1 Personal Statement 1: Major in Environmental Economics I would like to major in Environmental Economics in my undergraduate education. My aspirations are propelled by the desire to learn more concepts of manipulating raw materials more efficiently so that I can improve agriculture in an environmental friendly manner. My interest in Environmental Economics developed from a young age, owing to the way I grew up seeing my father's company deal in agricultural products like raw materials for fertilizers. I was also intrigued by the idea of maximizing resources, especially the non renewable ones and encouraging the exploitation of renewable resources. Surname 2 I graduated from Robert Bateman Secondary School in Canada in 2010, where I was an active student in many school activities. For instance, I was a Budget Committee member in my 11th and 12th Grades. The committee had the mandate of requesting school money for school events. From this role, I gained a lot of knowledge on budgeting and planning, and the skill of making the most out of the available and limited resources.

My leadership and management skills, more so in the area of finances, were sharpened further through the various roles and activities I took part in college. For instance, I was a member of the Phi Beta Lambda business club, which primarily analyzed companies' economic crises. I was a member of the Student Council Committee (ASDVC), which discussed how to use school funds in club events efficiently. This was an experience that helped me gain knowledge in allocating resources suitably and in the most efficient manner. I was also a member of the ICC Waydsnd Means Committee, which was an inter-club council financial code. This committee was mandated with the responsibility of accepting or declining clubs’ fund requests by analyzing the clubs’ activities.

I further honed my passion and skills in environmental and agricultural issues by participating as an intern in my father's company during the 2011 and 2012 summer and winter vacations. The company makes and trades in chemical resources. During my internship I was part of the team that researched raw chemical resources and recommended these raw materials to fertilizer making companies. From this internship, I got motivated immensely to learn how to manipulate raw materials in more efficient ways to come up with environmental friendly fertilizers. This has greatly influenced my desire to pursue Environmental Economics.

Personal Statement 2: Multicultural Experience I am an individual with multicultural experience, and this is something I treasure very much in this global world. This is because globalization has taken root in the modern world, and a person with multicultural experience has an edge in virtually all spheres of life. In the first place, I am very proud to have a Korean cultural experience, as well as western world experience. These two experiences marry very well in any contemporary academic institution.

The ability to work in a team comprised of members from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds showcases that I am culturally diverse. I value this quality a lot since I know it will certainly help me in my academic pursuit. For instance, I am certain that I will easily fit into the student community at UC, given that the student community is global and diverse in all manners.

In addition to the diverse school environment, I am very glad that I gained a lot of multicultural experience through the missionary trips I have made to Mongolia. Mongolia is a poor country which has numerous religions and up to 12 different languages. During our mission trips to Mongolia, I have had the opportunity to serve the less privileged community, thus enhancing humanity. Interacting with fellow missioners seamlessly is a great quality of interpersonal relationships, which indicates that I am a people person. Moreover, the ability to work together as a team indicates my value for team work, which is inevitably useful both in school and at workplace. These are values that I am confident that they will come in handy during my time at UC, as well as in my career in Environmental Economics in the future.

By interacting with the Mongolians during missions, I have learnt to appreciate fellow human beings and hold them with dignity no matter their backgrounds. Moreover, I have learnt to appreciate differences in cultures and make the most of out the differences, instead of being divided by the differences. The contemporary business world requires individuals who make the most out of the divergent workforce and cultures for the betterment of the organization. I am very proud of my experiences and exposures since that is what has culminated to who I am and my desires to pursue a career in Environmental Economics.
