Statement of Interest/Topic Selection for Staged Paper
1) What topics are you planning to look at and from what angle or perspective? There are two topics which are of specific interest to me. These are ‘Feminist Psychology’ and ‘Migration and Mobility.’ With respect to Feminist Psychology, it will be my aim to examine the extent to which this approach to psychology has engendered a specific understanding of the lives of girls and women through paying attention the structure of gender and sexuality. When it comes to Migration and Mobility, the aim is to explore how race, gender, and class have a bearing on this phenomenon which is increasingly gaining relevance in the global context. This is particularly relevant within the context of the migrant crisis, which came to the attention of the world in 2015.

In considering this topic, the aim will be to argue that, when considered through the lens of Psychology, it could be argued that the phenomenon of Migration and Mobility has are often been affected by factors which are usually connected to the identity of the involved people.
2) What specific questions are you interested in, and why?
With respect to the two topics, the following are the specific questions in which I am interested:
In what ways can Feminist theory improve how psychology - as a discipline - approaches gender and sexuality questions, particularly with reference to girls and women?
How does Feminist Psychology complicate the general understanding of gender, sexualities, and other sex categories, particularly with reference to girls and women?
Which are the specific issues which could be said to create a clear distinction between the concepts of Migration and Mobility?
In what way does gender, race, and class affect the extent to which individuals can engage in Migration and Mobility?
How does the process of globalization affect Migration and Mobility?
3) What have you found so far in your searches?
From the perspectives of authors like Marecek (2016), the function of Feminist Psychology is mainly to improve the lives of girls and women, particularly through research, various methods of clinical practice, and social advocacy methodologies.
One of the benefits of Feminist Psychology has been Feminist Therapy, which utilizes elements like hormonal research and survey design to offer a multidisciplinary approach to Psychology.
Authors such as Levitan (2019) argue that Migration and Mobility is an issue which is fundamentally political. Thus, considerations about it cannot be extricated from questions of race, gender, and class.

This article argues that intersectionality theory - as advanced by Kimberly Crenshaw and Patricia Hill-Collins - can be used an analytical tool to understand the methodology and critique of Feminist Psychology. This insight comes from the understanding that, in applying intersectionality to disciplines such as Feminist Psychology, it is important to note that people are not intersectional; instead, it is social categories that can be intersectional.

The purpose of this article was to advance the argument that families who are in constant geographical mobility often face challenges which, in order to be understood, may have to be considered from a sociocultural perspective that adopts multidisciplinary methods.
