Additionally, she was responsible for the production of engineering innovations that were crucial to IBM’s advanced computers. As such, dismissing her from her job because of her transgender identity arguably rid the computing world of a massive talent. That said, the discriminatory experience that Lynn Conway went through during her time at IBM should be contextualized within the period that she was living.
