FREE TB Testing March 24, 2022 11am-2pm World TB Day is a day to educate the public about the impact of TB around the world. TB is a treatable and curable infection. Each year, we recognize World TB Day on March 24. This annual event commemorates the date on March 24th, 1882, when Dr. Robert Koch announced his discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacillus that causes tuberculosis (TB). Since 1998, TB cases in the United States overall have been steadily declining. However, with every state in the country reporting cases, too many people in the United States still suffer from TB disease. We must continue to find and treat cases of active TB disease and test for and treat latent TB infection to prevent progression to disease and make TB elimination a reality. Even today, TB can be fatal if not treated in time.

The ACA health insurance program is opening up again beginning March 1st, 2022. This small window is only open for 31 days and coverage will begin on April 1st, 2022. To qualify, your income must be between 100% and 150% of the federal poverty level. Throughout the year, you may also qualify for health insurance coverage under a special circumstances clause. Friends Feeding Friends Client Lunch Program We are looking for new friends to help us serve nutritious meals every Thursday. We currently serve on average 30-40 clients and their family members. Planning and the help from our community partners make it possible for us to offer a healthy balanced meal. We find casseroles are usually the easiest and can provide a well-rounded lunch. Anyone wishing to prepare & serve a meal or financially support a lunch with a $100.00 donation please email us at give@accttexas.org
