-NutritionRecipe of The Month Tuna & Rice Casserole 3/4 cup rice, uncooked 1 /2 cup onion, chopped 1 clove garlic, chopped 1 (16 oz.) can Italian-style stewed tomatoes, cut up 1 (14 oz.) can chicken broth 1 (16 oz.) bag frozen mixed vegetables 1 (12 1/2 oz.) can tuna, drained and flaked 1/3 cup cheddar cheese, shredded The amount of liquid in this recipe is the correct amount to cook the rice. This saves a step-in preparation
Spray a saucepan with nonstick cooking spray. Add rice, onion and garlic. Cook 5 minutes. Add stewed tomatoes and chicken broth to rice mixture. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer until rice is cooked, about 25 minutes.

Thaw frozen vegetables under warm running water and drain thoroughly. Add tuna and vegetables to rice. Heat thoroughly. Sprinkle cheese over top. Serves 6

Community Hero Award Sheila Morton is the first recipients of our Mary McGowan Community Hero Award. Mary was a geriatric nurse practitioner by trade, but to all her friends she was the 24-hour doctor- on-call service. When the AIDS epidemic first hit her community, Mary jumped into action serving on numerous AIDS related committees where she knew she could help others. We will honor Mary's legacy of service by naming our new annual award in her honor.
The Pamela Froeschner Center In recognition of her extraordinary dedication and services. She has given so much of herself, time and treasures over the decades. Only an extraordinary gesture seems fitting to recognize her efforts. Thank you for everything Pam!

Friends Feeding Friends Client Lunch Program
We are looking for new friends to help us serve nutritious meals every Thursday. We currently serve on average 30-40 clients and their family members. Planning and the help from our community partners make it possible for us to offer a healthy balanced meal. We find casseroles are usually the easiest and can provide a well-rounded lunch. Anyone wishing to prepare & serve a meal or financially support a lunch with a $100.00 donation please email us at give@accttexas.org

FREE STD TESTING
To prevent the spread of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD's) we provide education, prevention, counseling, screening, testing & treatment. Clinic is held every Tuesday and opens at 12:30PM. We test for Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Syphilis, and HIV. Please Call our Angleton location to make an appointment.
Pantry is the last two full weeks of the month.

Updated Transportation Policy Core Medical Transportation including the following "Vouchers" will be available as described: Bus Tokens: To be used whenever possible. Cost to be actual round-trip fare. If you have a medical appointment and have documentation, you can ride the bus for FREE! Connect Transit: To be used when Bus Transportation is not available Brazoria County: $45 (One Way) or $90 (Round Trip) Galveston County: $20.24 (One Way) or $40.48 (Round Trip) Gas Cards: Gas Cards will be distributed in the amount of $15 each. A 15-mile one-way minimum is required to be eligible for Gas Card assistance. ACCT Van Transportation: When 3 passengers are available at the same time. (Clients are limited to $150 in gas cards per calendar month)
