In a faraway land, there lived a king with his daughter.
The little princess had hair as black as ebony, lips as red as blood and skin as white as snow. For this reason she was known as Snow White.

The king worried that the child may be lonely during his long absences so decided to remarry. He chose a woman of great beauty and mystery without realizing she also concealed a terrible secret. She was a witch!

Snow White was still a child but was becoming more beautiful with each passing day, until one day the mirror finally replied, “Snow White is now much fairer than you!”

The wicked stepmother flew into a terrible rage and called the royal huntsman. “I order you to take Snow White into the forest and kill her,” she said. The man did not know what to say but had no choice but to obey the queen’s orders.

Snow White was happy at the idea of a walk in the forest but the huntsman was very quiet and sad.

Snow White ran without knowing where she was going. The forest had never seemed so frightening!
Luckily, she saw a pretty little house in the distance.
“I will ask the owners to help me,” she thought as she walked over and timidly knocked on the door.
“Is anyone there? Can I come in?” There was no reply but since the door was open, Snow White went in.

Once inside, she looked around and was taken aback at what she saw. Everything seemed to have magically shrunk in size. A table had been set with seven tiny plates. Beside them were seven sets of tiny forks and cups!

At the top of the stairs, Snow White found only seven tiny beds. She lay down on them and fell asleep just as the seven owners of the house—seven dwarves who mined for precious stones in the mountains—were on their way home.

The dwarves were shocked to find Snow White asleep on their beds but when they heard her story, they decided to help her.

Meanwhile, the queen, who believed Snow White had been killed by the huntsman, asked her mirror the same question.

The queen wasn’t to know, however, that the distraught dwarves had laid Snow White on a glass bed, hopeful that she would one day awake. It was there that a young prince found her.
