Si tratta probabilmente di uno stendardo processionale, proveniente dalla chiesa dell’Ospedale dei Battuti Bianchi di Ferrara. Databile intorno al 1340. Nel 1841 nella Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana e dal 1909 in Pinacoteca.

It is probably a processional banner, originating from the church of the Ospedale dei Battuti Bianchi in Ferrara. It can be dated to around 1340. In 1841 it was held in the Vatican Apostolic Library and has been held in the Picture Gallery since 1909.

On the front side, at the centre, Saint Peter enthroned with the donor, cardinal Stefaneschi and Celestine V presented by their protectors Saint George and Pope Saint Celestine V. In the lateral

panels, Saints John the Evangelist and Andreas, Paul and James; in the predella, the bust of Saints.
