SVERRE BJERTNÆS
SVERRE BJERTNÆS (born 1976) is one of Norway’s leading contemporary artists today. The artist himself often refers to his body of works as a fragmented ‘stream of images’, collected from art history, vernacular culture and his own life. This book is the first monograph on the artist and features his oeuvre from the 1990s and up to the present day with more than 200 reproductions of works. Bjertnæs is an artist who e mbraces a conceptual approach to photorealism, and merges abstract and figurative painting with the use of new media. The book presents a full range of Bjertnæs’s production, covering painting and drawing as well as sculpture and the mixed-media installations he has developed in later years.
