When Rihanna arrived late for the Dior Show in March 2022, she was heckled for it. Her timeless response – ‘No shit!’ – went viral. The reality is that the world – including Dior – will always wait for Rihanna. Pregnant at the time, she looked regal in a black, baby-doll, Dior dress, which her stylist, Jaheel Weaver had taken the lining out of, making it sheer and showing off both her Fenty G-string and her baby-bump. Maria Grazia Chiuri – the House’s current artistic director, beamed her approval of the outfit during the photocall afterwards. Rihanna and Dior go way back: she became their first ever Black ambassador while Raf Simons was still at the helm in 2015 and she was the first to collaborate on a sunglasses range, which debuted in 2016. The shades were inspired by Starfleet Enterprise Officer, Geordi La Forge, played by LeVar Burton – a characteristically confident reference that evidences the orbit of RiRi’s pop-cultural scope.
