nsaio6 dokumentiert die Entwicklung der Fachrichtung Edelstein und Schmuck am Idar-Obersteiner Campus der Hochschule Trier von 2006 bis 2016. In der traditionsreichen Edelsteinmetropole werden die Gestaltungspotenziale der Steine und die ästhetischen Qualitäten des Materials in experimenteller Auseinandersetzung erforscht. Dabei entstehen künstlerisch anspruchsvolle Unikate, die internationale Anerkennung finden.

Die Studierenden aus allen Teilen der Welt konzentrieren sich nicht ausschließlich auf Schmuck und Schmücken, sondern zeigen auch Installationen, Objekte, Fotografien sowie Studien im zwei- und dreidimensionalen Bereich. Der Katalog gibt so einen Einblick in die breite Ausbildung in Angewandter Kunst in einem der wichtigsten kreativen Edelstein- und Schmuckzentren Europas. nsaio6 documents the development of the Department of Gemstones and Jewellery at the Idar-Oberstein campus of Trier University of Applied Sciences from 2006 to 2016. In this long-standing gemstone capital, the creative potential of the stones and the aesthetic qualities of the material are explored in experimental encounters. In doing so, one-off pieces of artistic sophistication emerge that are being met with international approval.

The students, who come from all corners of the globe, do not focus exclusively on jewellery and adornment; they also present installations, objects and photographs as well as two- and three-dimensional studies. The catalogue provides insight into the broad training within the applied arts in one of the most important creative gemstone and jewellery centres in Europe.
