Seifenblasenmaschine. Selbst Elisas Sohn wuchs im Wagen auf, zur Schuleinführung wurde gar ein zweiter Wagen angeschafft, und zu Marlos achtzehntem Geburtstag löste sich die Mutter-Sohn-Wagengemeinschaft auf.

The studio as a total work of art, means of existence, adoptive country and long-term project undertaken by Elisa Sorg, a printmaker and adept at the art of living, is a circus wagon renovated and converted into its present state with much artistry and love lavished on it. Like Mongolian nomads who live in yurts, she travels through the country collecting experiences on her way through life.

In 1999 she moved in the self-made predecessor model from the Duisburg wagon park to the Wartburg District in Thuringia and founded the Weimar wagon park in 2006. Since 2019 she has ridden at anchor with her partner and her wagon in Brandenburg. Restoring the circus wagon interior or mounting leadglass windows, the reinforcing strips of which she has soldered herself, as studio skylights, the idea of building a separate wagon as a chicken coop or engaging in weekly preparations for teaching art – all these creative activities originate in the Sorg headquarters.

This is equally true of her designs for etchings for the ‘soap-bubble diploma’ marking the end of her art studies at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar – a series of prints reproducing burst soap bubbles along with a soap-bubble machine. Elisa’s son even grew up in the wagon. When he started primary school, a second wagon was acquired, and on Marlo’s eighteenth birthday the mother-son wagon community was disbanded.
