decades. Originally written in tandem with solo exhibitions that each served as a milestone in her career, this compilation of texts offers various vantage points through which to enter and read Hong’s work. Art activist Hwang In explains the grammar of her art in accordance with how the artist appropriates the mathematical vocabulary of geometry, while art and design critic Michael Lim (aka Chungwoo Lee) captures the nature of Hong’s alliance with one of her most intimate collaborators of all times—music. Beck Jee-sook, currently the director of Seoul Museum of Art, reminisces her project with Hong at Aterlier Hermès, where the artist was able to fully orchestrate the entirety of the exhibition space through her unique logic of geometry. And art historian Yun Nanjie narrates the mechanism of Hong’s calculated pixels forming organic collections of grids and dimensions.
