PP. 22-23: Thanks to the double skin system, the Roberto Rocca Innovation Building is an efficient bioclimatic machine as well as a poetic “light box” suspended in the Pianura Padana landscape.

Taidelli is among the first architects to introduce healthcare design to Milan’s Design Week. His installations, “Cells” (2018) and “Breath” (2022) were displayed in the cloisters of Ca’ Granda, a former hospital dating to the 15th century. In 2022, Fujifilm commissioned Taidelli to develop a think tank. The result is “Breath,” an installation where boundaries between real and virtual are blurred. Here, video projections by the NFT artist Skygolpe break through two boarded doorways. In front of the video, visitors seated on circular modules are lulled by the vibrations of traducers, designed by the sound designer Nicola Ratti. “Breath” is the artistic and performative formalisation of Taidelli’s larger research project. This analysis identifies the strategies capable of reactivating patients’ sensorial memory within environments that are typically sterile and enclosed. Specifically, Taidelli proposes practical design solutions, technologies, and finishings in order to transform the environment and experience of radiology departments: a vegetation-rich patio-module for waiting rooms, panoramic “windows” that open up corridors to reveal endless landscapes, and circular skylights for MRI facilities, redesigned like small pantheons from which a sky emerges.

P. 111: Installazione “Cells | Healthcare of the Future”, allestita nello stesso luogo, durante il Fuori Salone 2018.
