The Buildings of Green Park A tour of certain buildings, monuments and other structures in Mayfair and St. James’s Andrew Jones, foreword by Alain de Botton Take a walk around a park trodden by many but known by few. From Lancaster House, venue of famous speeches and summits, to 100 Piccadilly, the stage of an ongoing Soviet-themed reality experience, The Buildings of Green Park captures the unseen history of these well-travelled streets. Green Park boasts a plethora of London landmarks, including Bridgewater House and the Canada Gates. The Buildings of Green Park gives each of these sites the attention they deserve, while also celebrating a multitude of overlooked buildings: those that are passed every day without comment from the guides. Local history, old photographs, paintings and floorplans offer a tantalising peek into the backstory behind these backdrops. Moving through the winter and into the spring, Andrew Jones’s crisp photography captures a London shaped by past, present and hopes for the future.

Andy Senn De aedibus Edited by Heinz Wirz

Martin and Sven Fröhlich have passionately pursued the permanence and longevity of forms, images and narratives in architecture since 2000. The result is surprising, strong and memorable architecture that often appears close to conceptual and minimal art.

Following his studies at the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio and various internships, Andreas Heierle founded his Atelier für Architektur in Lucerne in 2012. Since then, he has produced a number of architectural gems.

The new agricultural school in Salez, in the St. Gallen Rhine valley region, has a slender, airy and light appearance. The design is by Andy Senn, who has led his architectural office in St. Gallen since 1998.

Lyra Anthologie Edited by Heinz Wirz

Spillmann Echsle De aedibus Edited by Heinz Wirz

Staehelin Meyer Anthologie Edited by Heinz Wirz

Lara and Yves Reinacher are the protagonists of this Zurich architectural office. Following numerous competition successes, the architects have built several housing developments and a school in the community of Haut-Vully, Canton of Fribourg.

Spillmann Echsle became renowned in 2006 with their container tower for the FREITAG fashion label in Zurich. It represents ‘architecture without architects’ while also being a nonchalant solution for a common architectural programme during an inhospitable residual zone.

Jonas Staehelin and Stephan Meyer are among a promising young generation of architects in Basel. Their conversions and housing have their own hallmark, and their designs are characterised by particular elegance and dignity.
