Showcasing regalia for the coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla

Covering the remarkable history of the Royal School of Needlework (RSN) from inception to the present day

Illustrated with historical pictures and documents

Original edition published to coincide with the RSN s 150th anniversary

Many initiatives to support women were begun in the late 1800s, but the Royal School of Needlework (RSN) is one of the few that remain. This initiative was born from the desire of three women Princess Helena, Lady Victoria Welby and Lady Marian Alford to popularise the lost art of ornamental needlework and place it on a par with other decorative arts, such as painting and sculpture. Their other, yet no less important goal was to provide employment for women compelled to earn their own livelihood. Though women are no longer so limited in occupational options, the RSN has been keeping traditional embroidery techniques alive for a century and a half.

An Unbroken Thread tells the story from the RSN s founding in 1872 to the current day. It highlights key people, royal and other special commissions, the changing fortunes of the school as fashions changed and the approach to teaching hand embroidery, as well as bringing attention to the role and position of the RSN historically and today, associating with everyone from society ladies and theatre impresarios in the late 19th century to working with fashion designers Patrick Grant, Nicholas Oakwell and Alexander McQueen, and architects in the 21st century.

First published to coincide with the RSN s 150th anniversary, this revised edition details the most recent projects worked by the RSN, showcasing their skilful work on regalia for the coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla The King s Robe of State, The Queen s Robe of Estate, The Anointing Screen, The Stole Royal and Girdle, The Chairs of Estate and The Chairs of State.

Dr Susan Kay-Williams has been chief executive of the Royal School of Needlework since 2007. She is also a curator and archivist. She has spent a lot of her spare time researching the RSN s history because she believes more of its remarkable history needs to be known. In her own right, her research interest is in the history of dyes and textile dyeing. She published The Story of Colour in Textiles in 2013 (Bloomsbury).

Beyoncé is a force of nature. Her iconic songs, viral dance moves and daring acts of defiance are always delivered in sensational style. In the words of fashion legend Thierry Mugler, she represents the duality between being a woman and a warrior . Strutting and sashaying in Valentino leopard-print catsuits and her signature thigh-high boots, Queen B is more than just a glamour puss extraordinaire. She s a leader and an inspiration. Messages of self-empowerment and inner strength define her wardrobe as much as they electrify her songs. Her fashion connoisseurship has led to partnerships with numerous big names. Versace, Bottega, Balenciaga, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton are just a few of the brands saluted in her 2022 Renaissance album, and Anna Wintour even handed Bey creative control of the September 2018 issue of American Vogue. Perfect for fans and fashionistas, Beyoncé and the Clothes She Wears charts her sartorial journey, from Destiny s Child to the present day, in glorious visual detail.

Personal accounts from each designer on how they arrived in the world of jewellery, and the inspiration that produced their iconic pieces

Follow-up to the critically acclaimed Oxford: The Last Hurrah and England: The Last Hurrah

In England, I d become too well-known as a Tatler photographer. It was wonderful to be invisible again.

At the end of the 1980s, society photographer Dafydd Jones began a new life in New York. He had been hired byVanity Fair to attend the most talked-about parties in the city and soon found himself descending into a world of human tableaux, ladies who lunch, princesses in powder rooms and dachshunds scrapping over canapés. Camera at the ready, Jones quickly filled the society pages of the illustrious magazine, snapping the likes of Leona Helmsley, Donald Trump, Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell and Imelda Marcos as they celebrated, mourned and unravelled in the bright lights. During the day, he captured the city streets and the ordinary citizens grounded in the real world. In these pages, the author of England: The Last Hurrah reveals the story of New York, the highs and the lows, as the 90s unfolded in front of his expert lens.

Mr. Jones goes about his business with cheery zest and a wicked eye. New York Times, 1993

A unique study, revealing the hidden side of a popular Mediterranean paradise

A true photographic masterclass

Famed for its architecture, culture and natural beauty, Corfu greets millions of tourists each year. Having been left to its own laidback lifestyle after 500 years of Venetian, French and British occupation, the island is now as popular with holiday makers as it once was with invaders. The old town is an especially alluring blend of venetian architecture, Mediterranean charm and even the occasional cricket pitch, all uniquely resistant to the intrusions of modernity.

Immaculately illustrated, Old Corfu opens the rusty gate to an island experience like no other. By focalising the flaking paint on garage doors, pavements split by the heat, or olive trees stooped and swaying as if drunk, each page is infused with the same unspoilt appeal as Corfu itself.

More than a testament to the allure of a balmy, Mediterranean paradise, this is a true photographic masterclass, inviting us to see the attractiveness in old age, and the beauty in life s imperfections.

The inside story of RAD Britain s seminal skateboarding publication

Commentary from the original editorial team

Lovingly illustrated with archival photography

A thrill-ride ride through the skateboarding subculture of the 1970s, 80s and 90s

Perfect for skate fans and photography buffs

For British skateboarders in the mid- 80s, RAD (aka Read and Destroy) was more than just a magazine. Before the X Games, before the internet, a whole generation of this once underground subculture relied onRAD to provide a beacon, bringing them together in spirit and in person.

Under the guidance of editor and chief photographer, Tim Leighton-Boyce,RAD took on an experimental, irreverent approach with a vibrant, chaotic energy. The legacy of the magazine is an action-packed photo archive documenting a unique time, place and attitude, capturing the death and rebirth of skateboarding as it evolved into a mainstay of extreme sports and street culture the world over.

This book reveals that archive in all its glory, offering an inside view of skateboarding and youth culture from the 1970s, 80s and 90s, told primarily through the experiences of the British skate photographers at the core of the magazine s original editorial team.

Written by experts Osvaldo Patrizzi and Mara Cappelletti and introduced by the Chairman of Sotheby s International Watch Division, Daryn F. Schnipper

385 key models, with analysis of details and prices realised at auction

Contains a history of luxury wristwatch auctions and relevant information for collectors looking to invest

The first part of a series, with Patek Philippe: Investing in Wristwatches to follow

Absolutely essential for all the connoisseurs and Rolex lovers.  Laura Astrologo Porché, celebremagazine world

Why do we collect? For some, it is a pursuit of pure passion those who appreciate the wristwatch as an artform: the intricacy of its mechanics, the finesse of its form. Yet for others, collecting is an investment, and a watch s value is of as much importance as its appearance. All collectors ought to have a guide to models and market value. Rolex: Investing in Wristwatches offers detailed insights into the world of authenticating and pricing high-value wristwatches, which will be of use to collectors from amateur to connoisseur.

This publication includes the vast majority of key Rolex models, along with their relevant auction results. The timepieces featured have been carefully selected by Senior Horological Expert, Osvaldo Patrizzi. These wristwatches excel for a diverse range of reasons, including technical excellence, auction records, design and anecdotal history. A description of each watch is accompanied by its picture, reference and sales values (rights included).

A comparative analysis of auction results, compiled through close collaboration with the Sotheby s auction house, shows, by brand and timepiece, the evolution of prices over time, leading from the Eighties up to the present day. A system to calculate the currency exchange rate at the time of auction sales will also be included in this vital work of reference.

After graduating in 1989 from the IULM University of Milan, Mara Cappelletti attended the History of Jewelry course and the Art of Islamic countries, India, China, Korea and Japan short course at the Sotheby s Institute of Art in 2005. She is founder and president of Associazione Culturale Stile e Storia, working in art, fashion and jewellery. From 2011-2012, Cappelletti was the curator and author, together with Osvaldo Patrizzi, of The Masters of Time (24 Ore Cultura): a collection of 25 monographs dedicated to the world s finest watchmakers and founders of the greatest Maisons. In January 2020, Cappelletti was the main curator of the exhibition Stile Milano (Milano Style). She had previously curated 2015 exhibition Jewels Of Taste as part of the Expo In Citta, supported by the University of Milano, Associazione Orafa Lombarda, and The World Jewellery Confederation CIBJO.

Osvaldo Patrizzi has held a long fascination with horology. He served as an apprentice watchmaker in Milan from 1965-1973, before being employed as a restorer of antique watches. He went on to become an Expert of the italian Association of Antique Horology Dealers and a consultant for the Swiss Custom. He founded the Galerie d Horlogerie Ancienne, which became Antiquorum in 1981. In 2007, he founded PATRIZZI & CO. AUCTIONEERS. Across the course of his long and illustrious career, Patrizzi has been responsible for selling over 75% of all the watches ever sold for over one million dollars. His Grading System is the most reliable way for collectors to gauge the condition of their prospective investments.

Revealing descriptions of each photograph in Bowen's own words

From the photographer behind Wild World: Nature Through an Autistic Eye, ISBN 9781788841238

Photographer and wildlife activist, Alfie Bowen presents his two-year-long project photographing Britain s wild horses through the eyes of someone living with autism spectrum disorder. Wild Horses is all about connection: Bowen s personal connection to the animals he photographs; his connection to photography as an art form; the horses connection to one another; and our collective connection to the land and our planet.

Bowen borrows the words of American landscape photographer Ansel Adams to describe his approach to his work: You don t make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved. For Bowen, photography is an outlet for his emotional energy. It enables him to draw from difficult moments in his life and turn the energy that manifests from his emotions into truly mesmerising images.

Alfie Bowen took up photography in 2014. It became an escape for him, and he credits it with saving his life. He uses his photography to raise awareness of the plight facing many species across the world, and to increase acceptance and understanding of autism. Bowen is proud to be an ambassador for Clinks Care Farm, Big Blue Ocean Cleanup and Young Bird Photographer of the Year. He also works closely with WWF. Alfie Bowen is based in Beccles, Suffolk.
