Founded over 12 years ago by writer Stéphanie Gaou, Librairie les Insolites is a charming bookstore and art gallery in Tangier. Les Insolites translates to ‘the unusuals’, and that’s what shoppers can expect to find on the store’s walls and its sunny yellow shelves. Customers can browse books, stationery and the latest exhibit of paintings, photography or sculpture, then spend some time soaking up the Moroccan sun and diving into the pages of their purchases at the café tables outside the store. Younger readers will also find plenty to love in the kids and young adult section. If you can’t make it to the store in person, you can still experience the Tangier literary scene by listening to its podcast, Radio les Insolites.
