How to Sage 50 write off a sales invoice to bad debt

How do I write off an invoice in assets as a nasty debt in Sage 50?

Follow these steps to write down off a sales invoice, whether unpaid or partially paid, as a nasty debt: 

Identify the customer and invoice number to be written off as debt.



From the menu bar, select Tasks, Receipts.



In the Customer ID field, select the customer that has the invoices that are outstanding for this customer.



The Apply to Invoices tab will display with the invoices that are outstanding for this customer.



Enter a singular reference number which can help identify the receipt as a write-off, for instance WO-001. Visit for more info- Sage 50 Write Off Bad Debt Invoice

Place your cursor within the brokerage account box up the upper right-hand corner.

Click on the hand glass and choose the debt travel and entertainment account from the drop-down list.



Note: If you can't change the brokerage account in Step #6, you'll have the Hide ledger Accounts global option activated. to seem up or enter the debt travel and entertainment account, click on the Journal icon to display the Accounting Behind the Screens window where you'll change the brokerage account ID. Select okay to return to the Receipts window.



Select the invoice you would like to write down off as a nasty debt and choose its PAY check box.



Save the entry.

Note: return into Tasks-Receipts and alter the brokerage account back to the right account.

After completing the steps above the brokerage account are going to be set to the debt travel and entertainment account and must be reset back to the brokerage account.
