BOLD EXPOSITIONAL TEACHING. HIGH-ADVENTURE RECREATION. GOSPEL-CENTERED DISCIPLESHIP.

SWO Nation, We don’t want anyone to ever be confused about why we exist. Our mission is, to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the exposition of Scripture and personal relationships in order to equip the Church to impact this generation. For us, this is more than just a mission statement to put on our website, this is the message that fuels everything that we do at SWO. We are a ministry that is intentionally driven by the Gospel of Jesus Christ because we believe that this is the message that will change lives for eternity. In light of this, we want to use every resource at our disposal with a single-minded, laser focus toward applying the Gospel in every conceivable opportunity. We want it to genuinely guide the way we lead our staff and the way we interact with students, student pastors, and the men and women that attend our adult conferences. Regardless of what is going on in the world around us, we are committed, with God’s help, to continue to be faithful to the calling that He has placed on us to make disciples until He returns or calls us home.

college accredited program in partnership with several theological universities. Classes meet in-person at camp and are led by a team of qualified professors. This gives our Institute students the opportunity to grow in Biblical knowledge while getting hands-on experience in ministry.

MISSION of SWO

We develop disciples and grow future leaders by focusing on these areas:

Campers: We host summer camp and year-round conferences for students and

adults with the main focus of Biblical preaching and teaching. In all of our camps and conferences, we offer a wide range of high-adventure recreation from water sports to winter sports depending on the season. We have learned that shared experiences are a great way to develop relationships. Because relationships have a high value to us, we keep a low staff to student ratio so that we can effectively have in-depth Gospel conversations.

Leaders in student ministry: We invest in student leaders by hosting specific

break-outs during each of our summer camp sessions designed to equip them in their ministry. Each year, we host Iron on Iron, a free student pastor conference, which builds the foundation for a strategic approach to not only equipping students but also student pastors and those working in student ministry. Our in-depth archive of content including past sermons, break-out sessions, and podcasts is available for free.

Every year, students and leaders come from 16 states and drive thousands of miles to a backroad in Andrews, NC. Our focus while these students are at SWO is to proclaim and point them to our only hope, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In the last decade, over 70,000 students have heard the Gospel in sermons and in small group settings. We have discipled dozens of staff families that have left SWO to go to the mission field.

WHERE WE ARE GOING

Our vision is not just about property, it’s about people. It is about making disciples and seeing this generation have Gospel impact that lasts for eternity. Our goal is to have an annual attendance of 20,000 by 2027. To see this come to fruition, we must continue to increase our capacity. We want to reach as many students as we can with the Gospel. We work to maintain a low cost of camp to enable more students the opportunity to attend. Generous donations help us with expansion and development to reach more students.
