A PARTNERSHIP OF CARE
HOPE IN THE MIDST OF TRAGEDY One of the greatest tragedies that can be experienced at work is the death of a teammate. I had only been a chaplain at the facility for about a month when I received an email from the manager telling me how a teammate passed away the night before at work. My heart was broken. Immediately, our team went to work.
MY HEART WAS BROKEN. IMMEDIATELY, OUR TEAM WENT TO WORK. The facility had two chaplains working there, the other Chaplain took the first shift team and spoke with them and had several care sessions. I spent the evening with our second shift and earlier morning drivers. There was a lot of emotions. Tears, sadness, fear, and introspection. That day the Lord opened the door to so many hearts and we were able to gain permission and share the gospel with several teammates. I was able to lead one teammate to Christ that night who was the best friend of the deceased. Later we teamed up with management and held a memorial service for the teammate at the facility. Several came and paid their respects and heard an invitation to the gospel. God used that tragedy to bring me close to these teammates, and now when I go to the facility, I find that I have consistent openness with the team. God used a tragic situation for His glory! We as Chaplains were happy to be there to help!
WE WERE ABLE TO GAIN PERMISSION AND SHARE THE GOSPEL WITH SEVERAL TEAMMATES. 5,895 LIVES CHANGED SINCE INCEPTION
FAMILY CARE ACROSS THE NATION Not many words are uglier than cancer, but the phrase “pediatric cancer” is the most gut wrenching. I came to the facility and met with a manager. She was obviously upset, and I asked if she felt like talking. She began to tell me how she had just received word that her niece who lived hundreds of miles away was just diagnosed with cancer and her niece was only two years old. Obviously, there was fear and family stress as the hospital was hours away from their home. I’m nowhere near this state but luckily, we have a nationwide team of chaplains. I asked her if she wouldn’t mind asking her brother (the child’s father) if I could reach out by phone. He gave permission for me to text him and we began talking. I was able, with the help of my Regional Director, to coordinate with another team of chaplains in that state. We had a chaplain ministering to that family within 48 hours! The little one is doing better, and we are still ministering to this family and the teammate that I serve.
WE HAVE A NATIONWIDE TEAM OF CHAPLAINS.
