LIFE-CHANGING CARE

CARE IN TIMES OF NEED UNEXPECTED FAMILY NEWS A young lady got some unexpected family news while at work. She became emotional and had to leave her workstation. She went to the Chaplain’s office to get herself together so she could go back to her work. She talked with the Chaplain about the news she had received. After a few minutes she was able to go back to work. FAMILY ISSUES The Chaplain got a call from a team member who was traveling out of town to visit a son who was depressed and previously spoke of suicide. The Chaplain was able to give some advice to the team member and provide the suicide hotline in case this was needed. STRESS AND ANXIETY The Chaplain received a call that an employee was struggling and needed to talk. The Chaplain met with the employee to find him in tears. He said his life was crumbling in on him and because of all the stress, he couldn’t concentrate at work and was going to quit. After a time of talking about priorities and ways to deal with stress, he decided to start fresh with God as the center of his life and asked God to help him set his priorities in order. The Chaplain helped him with an action plan to get through the stress. As of now, the employee is still at work every day.

A LIFE CHANGED A few weeks ago, I received a call on ChapLink from a Covenant driver. He wanted to talk about something big that had happened recently in his spiritual journey. Many years ago, he was saved as a teenager. It wasn’t long in his spiritual life before he turned away from the Lord. The impetus of that was some hurt he had experienced in his home church, especially from the pastor. As a young man, he continued to run from God and really lived a life like the parable of the Prodigal Son. Several months ago, he began listening to Christian music again. The Lord was really stirring his heart; the song Reckless Love touched his heart one day, and he rededicated his life. We talked and texted a few times about these events. Then he called and asked, “Will you baptize me?” My answer was of course, “Yes!” He told me that he was only in the Chattanooga area Monday and Tuesday nights. I told him that we would make it happen. I called the elders of our church, Crossroads, and we prepared the baptismal and baptized him two weeks ago on a Monday night. The elders and their wives were there along with the driver and his wife. We sang Reckless Love, I shared about the significance of baptism, and we baptized him. It was a short but wonderful service. To God be all the glory!
