LIFE-CHANGING CARE
STORIES OF IMPACT Chaplain Bill Chapman serves Indian Creek Nursery in Madison, AL. Bill met an employee named Nickie there. As he developed a caring relationship with her on weekly rounds, he learned that she wasn’t raised as a Christian, but she highly regarded her aunt who was a devoted follower of Christ. Nickie’s aunt had taken her to church, and Nickie had gone through the motions of making a profession of faith. But, she admitted to her chaplain that she didn’t really know what her decision meant. Bill began to conversationally ask a series of Spirit led questions like, “Do you think you will see your aunt again?” and “Have you given much thought
to what happens when a person dies?” Nickie was very intrigued by her chaplain’s questions, but what really opened her heart was when Bill asked, “Would you like to hear an amazing story about how you can know with great clarity that we have a home in heaven?” Nickie listened intently while her chaplain took the time to walk her through a Gospel tract called “Steps to Peace with God.” After making the most important decision of her life, Bill asked one more question that brought a huge smile, some happy tears, and a follow-up conversation with the owners of the company. He asked, “Did you know, Nickie, that you and your Aunt will have an eternity to spend together with Jesus?”
