CONSORTIA
from Converge IM Book
by Accordus
Local churches are the engine which drives global missions. Converge International Ministries seeks to unite North American churches to one another for shared prayer and missional effort toward the least reached peoples of the world. These church networks, called Consortia, harness prayer, energy, resources, and diverse spiritual gifts beyond the ability of any one church can do individually. We are better together!
Historical Engagement Model Current Engagement Model

This model has been around for over 100 years. We call it the “Own the missionary” or “The missionary owns and does everything” model. The missionary owns capital fundraising projects, missions’ trips planning, and not to mention trying to discern where God is leading in the harvest. This is a model that worked in times past but does not help things move quickly on the field.
The consortia model moves from the global worker (missionary) doing and handling everything. The goal is to keep the global workers facing the harvest field!! The current engagement model moves the administrative burden that was placed on the global team in the past to a high-capacity executive team. This new model enables the Initiative leaders and project teams to move quickly to opportunities the Lord creates on the field as we pray and continue to believe God for a Gospel Movement among the least-reached.

“We have advanced on our knees…There’s been a lot of action as a result of our prayers, but it’s been prayer that has solved the problems…it’s been prayer that God has raised up recruits, supplies, and equipment when it seemed hopeless. And all we could do as it were, was march around Jericho on our knees-just around Jericho. And then finally, the walls fell, and we marched in.”
