Intergenerational Activities and Art in York

According to recent conversations with Community Centres, many elderly residents of York report Social Isolation. The building blocks of these projects are informal chats, sharing stories, sharing hopes, and communal art works on local interest that actually means something personal to York residents. We foster an improved sense of health and wellbeing by providing a platform to share stories and even learn skills and share suggestions In our experience, it doesn’t take long before, peer to peer, our participants help explain digital skills that may have previously eluded them and added to their sense of marginalisation. Our previous experience working with residents across York has left the impression that many of the people who live here sometimes feel a little ‘left behind’ due to stereotypes of them being ‘stuck in the mud’ (see any of the digital magazines included for this and similar opinions).
