The play, ‘Six Angels in Search of a Character’ was performed by students from the University of Gloucestershire who portrayed the six arch-angels who descend to Earth to determine which of them can exert the greatest influence on a Shakespearean character. It was wonderful to see storytelling being used at its best to release the magic and bring ‘Angels and Shakespeare’ alive and to connect to a younger audience! The Festival team also brilliantly integrated the eight Viborg animations at the beginning of the performance and employed storytelling techniques to vividly bring the Angels and Shakespeare to life.”

REACH and new Visuality are delighted that Philip Parr, Skylar Mabry and the Festival team are showcasing York’s angels throughout the Festival but we know that not everyone will get the chance to pop in to the Friargate Theatre to see the amazing drawings children and young people across the city of York have produced. We have therefore produced this magazine which celebrates the children's drawings and enables us to share them more widely. This we hope will encourage everyone to understand the potential we have to connect and to focus on the audience of the future and the future of the City of York... it’s children and young people.
