ACOMB ART

Sometimes the best way to celebrate the area of Acomb is via Art
Via 4 sessions at Lidgett Methodist Church, New Visuality co-director Ails McGee led sessions with local children We discussed positive vibes and aspirations
We discussed what it is to keep the area clean and to look out for each other, with acknowledgement of Acomb's priorities as a ward, supporting residents to lead happier, healthier and longer lives, and stepping up ourselves as a charity to provide inclusive activities, and connecting residents to each other and their communities.
We're looking forward to gathering all work and later digitally displaying it in Denmark’s Viborg, who provided the initial brief to fellow UNESCO Cities of Media Arts, ‘Angels of Hope ’
We also hope to display it in York's heritage hotspots too, and, closer to home, at Lidgett Methodist Church itself
Acomb's young artists, getting creative in a top class venue, with the crackle of intergenerational conversation and local beauty spots serving as inspiration The art itself bounced around the concept of angels and angels' wings: what lifts YOU up? We were delighted for Acomb to take its rightful place as a leader in this conversation AND give families a break whilst their young artists got creative with an award winning, fully DBS’d team in a venue within walking distance
We could not have done this without Acomb ward councillors nor Acomb’s Community Officer Catherine Claudius Cole We sat back and watched Acomb’s youngest residents create positive reflections on what makes Acomb such a great place to live with these depictions of angels.
