A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

All Aboard

, and welcome to St. Therese Theater,

I will be your conductor, Mrs. Tureson. Please sit back and enjoy as we invite you to ride the Pilot Railway. If you look towards our stage, you will see a simpler time. A time when houses didn’t have multiple cell phones, but shared party lines with their neighbors. A time when there wasn’t a rush and hustle to get to the weekend. When stores were closed on Sunday, mail took days to arrive, and milk came in glass bottles. A time when everyone would gather around the radio, or a new black and white television, to watch wholesome shows that always ended with a happy, moral-of-the-story conclusion. The year is 1958, and the world is about to change—at least for the teenagers of Sweet Apple, Ohio. When the hip-swiveling rock-and-roll sensation Conrad Birdie is drafted into the army, his struggling manager, Albert Peterson , faces financial ruin. In a desperate, last-ditch publicity stunt, Albert’s secretary (and long-suffering girlfriend) Rosie Alvarez hatches a plan: Conrad will travel to Sweet Apple to bestow “One Last Kiss” on one lucky fan, Kim MacAfee , live on The Ed Sullivan Show . When the plan suddenly hits a high-speed detour, Kim’s jealous boyfriend, her frazzled father, and Albert’s overbearing mother all collide in a whirlwind of 1950s teenage hysteria. Next Stop, Sweet Apple, Ohio!

Sincerely,

She wants to give a huge thank you to her parents, her siblings Mae & Shaun, and her fellow seniors for their constant support. Her parting wisdom for underclassmen? Unless it’s truly dire, always choose sleep over work!
