SAN DIEGO CIVIC THEATRE

OLP PRESENTS

Welcome to Our Lady of Peace’s 52nd Spring Sing’s Stories Untold!

Spring Sing is back! I am so pleased to be able to gather with parents, students, alumnae, friends, faculty, and staff in the Civic Theatre to rejoice in the fun, creativity, and excitement that is Our Lady of Peace’s annual Spring Sing event.

As you know, Spring Sing is one of OLP’s signature experiences, spanning generations of OLP graduates. And even more importantly, it epitomizes OLP’s mission of empowering young women, for our young women do it all when it comes to this event. Every year, they write scripts, choreograph and direct dances, sell tickets, manage money, act, sing and more, all culminating in tonight’s interpretations of Untold Stories.

This evening, the frosh will bring to life the “Queen of Hearts,” the sophomores will host a “Disney Dinner Party,” the juniors will be “Inside the Jukebox,” and the seniors will embody “Toucan Sam.”

I want to acknowledge and praise the tremendous effort of each student who was involved in this year’s Spring Sing. Months and months of hard work and long hours go into making this an amazing event for our community—the students undertake this on top of their coursework and home lives. Their enthusiasm for and dedication to this time-honored OLP tradition truly make it a special occasion, which we at OLP are so proud to share.

And, of course, I also want to give a shout-out to our parents and families, as well as our faculty and staff, all of whom support our Spring Sing students with much needed advice and guidance, pep talks and patience during Spring Sing preparations and rehearsals.

Thank you to all of you for being here tonight. Thank you for your support of OLP and of our students. A special thank you and welcome to our alumnae—some of whom traveled far and wide to relive one of their favorite OLP memories—and to the future OLP Pilots in the audience, we can’t wait for you to be up on that stage too!

Enjoy this special event!

Frosh - Queen of Hearts

After Alice has escaped from Wonderland and the clutches of the Queen of Hearts, the Queen is not feeling her best and is taught how to LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE by her friends. The White Rabbit and Chesire Cat teach her how to live and enjoy the little things in life. The Mad Hatter and March Hare teach her how to laugh. And most importantly, the King of Hearts (a player who recently betrayed her) shows her the ways of love. But will it all stick with her?

Thank Yous

The frosh would like to first thank our wonderful moderator, Mrs. Heveron, for helping us through this amazing production. Second, thank you to the class of 2025 for putting in the effort and spirit, which led to the success of our very first Spring Sing. We’d also like to recognize our faculty moderators for their support and encouragement throughout rehearsals. Thank you to leadership as they all planned, designed, and choreographed the show, which could not have been possible without them. Lastly, thanks to our amazing actors for making the vision of the Freshman Spring Sing come to life. Their positive outlook each rehearsal throughout this Spring Sing greatly impacted and set the mood of our production. Overall, thank you to anyone and everyone who was a part of this year’s Spring Sing!

Thank Yous

We have so many people to thank for the coming together of this show. First, our guardians for sticking with us through everchanging pick-up schedules and late evenings. Next, our moderators, Mrs. Rayner and Ms. Griffin. You were always there to answer all of our questions, and when things got stressful, you reminded us to calm down and that it would all work itself out. Thank you, especially, Mrs. Rayner, for letting us use the French room once a week at lunch for the past few months. We would also love to thank our leadership team. You 12 have been there for us through every problem (Spring Sing related or not) we’ve dealt with these past months. From freak-outs at our lunch meetings to stressing about getting the play done on time, you have all been an amazing support system. And lastly, a very special thanks for our 10 actors, 36 chorus members, and 9 dancers. You 67 are the reason our show came alive, and we couldn’t have done it without you. You spent so many hours at OLP, working hard to put the show together, and we love you all. Thank you!

Seniors - Toucan Sam

All Toucan Sam wants in life is to be the next big thing and “make it” in Hollywood. He thinks he’s all that and a bag of chips until he arrives in Los Angeles and realizes, to his utmost horror, he’s just not good enough. He isn’t making the cut; big-name directors would rather cast Hollywood royalty than Toucan Sam. Although Sam feels like he’s just missed out on winning endless acclaim, he has no idea what the future has in store for him. Follow Sam on his crazy journey as he turns his dreams into reality. With no shortage of family drama and failed auditions, watch Toucan Sam find his way onto the silver screen as the face of everyone’s favorite cereal–Froot Loops!

Thank Yous

Thank you to everyone who came out to support our last Spring Sing ever! Thank you to the parents who drove us back and forth from practices and the siblings who put up with us being a little extra stressed this time of year. Your patience always inspires us and carries us through the hardest times. Thank you to faculty and staff who watched our practices, offered help when they could, and always brought positivity to our hardest work days. Thank you to our moderator, Mrs. Kim. We adore your kind spirit, your Spring Sing wisdom, and your determination to make this our best show yet. Finally, thank you to our class. Thank you for showing up to practice, smiles on your faces and joy in your hearts. Thank you for participating, whether on the stage or behind. Thank you to those in the audience who couldn’t be with us, but supported us all the while. We love you forever!
