Propeller Youth Company is a dance performance company for young people based at Falmouth University’s AMATA Arts Centre, led by Grace Murdoch. An invitation only group of young people selected from our Creative Dance and Contemporary Technique classes. Propeller participants demonstrate a passion, skill and dedication to dance at an advance level. Eligibility for Propeller is for young people in secondary and Further Education.
The company dancers come together weekly and over intensive residencies to develop their skills through a myriad of performance and developmental opportunities. Previous Propeller performances have included the Eden Project, the Minack Theatre, the National Trust Gwithian. Company members have participated in National Youth Dance Company, Sadlers Wells. Working with choreographers such as Boy Blue, Wayne McGregor CBE, Botis Seva and Allesandra Seutin.
For Body of Water the company interviewed members of the Cornish community about their relationship to the Sea. Broken down into three sections the dancers have explored three identified topics connected to the Ocean.
A playful mixed bag of moments representing people who wild and why. From friends at the beach, to habitual sea swimmers, the brave but hesitant, or even those out for a snorkel.
