A LETTER FROM THE
DIRECTOR The 2018-2019 school year has been a year of growth, and we could not be more proud of the efforts made by faculty and students across the district. This school year, fourteen academies achieved model status with the NCAC, bringing us up to 36 Model Academies, or 100% model academies across our 12 Academies of Nashville high schools. In other milestones, the Career Exploration Fair reached its 10th year of existence and welcomed over 6,000 ninth grade students from across MNPS through the door of the Music City Center. We were thrilled to have the Mayor and the Director of Schools in attendance, as well as over 130 exhibitors. I am also pleased to announce that our Early Post-Secondary Opportunity (EPSO) pass rate grew to 64%, a new record for our Academy High Schools! These new gains are a direct result of the passion of our teachers, the power of partnership with local business, and the dedication of our students to seize opportunities when they are presented. In addition, we have welcomed a new Interim Director of Schools, Dr. Adrienne Battle, a former MNPS student, teacher, and Academy Principal within the district. The Academies of Nashville is looking forward to continuing to work with Dr. Battle as we look to the future of our program. Lastly, we have welcomed over 5,000 educators from across the country as part of our Study Visits with the Nashville Hub, and we are proud to announce that this year we have gone international! In 2018-2019, we hosted visitors from the United Kingdom as well as the US. These educators from around the US and Europe are invested in visiting our MNPS Academies in order to learn about our model and from our expertise. We are so thankful to all of these educators, the Nashville Hub, and our schools for taking part in these tours. We look forward to welcoming many more visitors as the years roll on. There are so many reasons to celebrate the 2018-2019 school year, and only a few of them are listed in this letter. We invite you to visit our schools to see what else the Academies has to offer.
