Editor’s Note

Woven into the moral and social fabric of many societies is the positive ethic towards work. This dates back as early as man in the garden of Eden where God assigned him the responsibility to work and tend it. A good work ethic is what dignifies a person in society. Beyond dignity, is the fulfilment derived from our quest for excellence and success; and to this end, we work with all diligence in order to live out our potential.

Diligence is a man’s precious possession, his winning formula. It is what a man needs in his pursuit of godliness and success in his trade. It helps us stay on course in our pursuits. And navigate the high and rough seas of life with determination. It is characterized by patient, steady, earnest, and energetic effort towards a set goal. When we’re diligent in life, we employ self-discipline to correct or regulate us for the sake of improvement. Self-discipline enables us to gain control by enforcing obedience or order. As we cultivate diligence, we maintain our buoyancy and forward flow against the turbulences of life.

It’s with diligence that a godly man guards his heart, because out of it spring the issues of life. For this reason, he rules in life, and every plan of his surely leads to plenty. His soul as a result, is made rich. (Proverbs 4:23; 12:24; 13:4; 21:5)

By this time now into the year 2023, we’ve already appreciated the importance of having a vision as a blueprint or a roadmap. But more to this, is the responsibility to steward and nurture it. Let’s therefore purpose to be diligent in our pursuits. It’s our diligence that will see to it that our visions in life become a reality.

Ambassador.

What comes to mind when you hear of that word?

For many people, the word ambassador is akin to a representative of a foreign government or a diplomat. When we talk of an ambassador, people quickly think about dignitaries and the protocol that surrounds them – the big decisions, the security detail, the new and large cars, the palatial homes and the high-end places associated with representatives of foreign governments.

Even more interesting is the fact that people consider, as befitting, the honourable, dignified and excellent lifestyle ambassadors are exposed to. It is rear to find someone complaining about the honourable treatment accorded to an ambassador by the government they represent. That’s because it is well understood that an ambassador bears the name of his country, and everything that country represents – its power, its might and its resources. He is expected to project the standing of his home country.

Here is good news for you. The Bible calls the children of God in the earth “…ambassadors for Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:20). If you are born-again, you are more than just a citizen of a geographical country. You are a citizen of heaven. You bear the name of Jesus – the King of kings – and you represent the kingdom of God to the citizens of this earth. You are an expression of the kingdom of God in the earth, an authorized agent for God’s will to “…be done in earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).

As an ambassador for Jesus, your life is not supplied by the economies of this world. You have the Kingdom of God in you; a kingdom that comes with everything you require to live and correctly project Jesus to the citizens of this world. Heaven and the angels of God are ever on standby to “…supply all your need according to [God’s] riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

In short, you are independent of this world and its limitations. You don’t have to settle for a limited life, and neither should anyone who is willing and obedient to make Jesus Lord of their life. You are well able to live above and beyond the lack, the weakness and shortages that confine many people to a life below their potential. That is what the grace of God is there to carryout in your life. “…God is able to make all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an abundance for every good work and act of charity.” (2 Corinthians 9:8, AMP)

Talk about independence! The grace of God will teach you to make up your mind to live like the ambassador that you are. It will also turn you into a fisher of men – your life story will be a hope statement that draws men into the Kingdom of God.

Diligence Realises Vision

A God-given vision eventually fully manifests and declares the truth. We should therefore eagerly wait for it. Even if there is a delay, it will happen. And while we wait, we must be diligent. This includes taking care of yourself, keeping your eyes and mind focused, and teaching it to others (Habakkuk 2:2; Deuteronomy 4:9).

Diligence is a consistent, active effort to maintain convictions and vision, requiring dedicated effort. Successful people in history achieved great accomplishments through diligence, which requires relying on God's wisdom to overcome obstacles and challenges.

God encourages diligence in various aspects of life, including job handling, family raising, and spiritual growth. He promises rewards for diligent seekers, and if we follow Jesus with diligence, He promises to give us the crown of life.

Diligence leads to promotion and prosperity, transforming dreams into reality and impossibilities into possibilities. Reflecting on one's work with diligence and giving their best can lead to great rewards. Plans made by the diligent leads to abundance, prosperity, and well-supplied hands and souls. It provides clothing, food, and home assistance. True diligent individuals control their destiny and enhance the achievements of those around them.

Diligent labour results in profit, measured by the successful achievement of goals and the financial reward received. Diligence in any aspect of life always yields profitable outcomes. The diligent person, as described in Proverbs 22:29, will acquire the respect and admiration of those in charge as their accomplishments shine brightly and draw attention from all around them.

The diligent soul grows fat. This fulfilment brings content and satisfies one's deepest being, personality, and emotions, hence reducing cravings. A person at rest can achieve much more, it’s a loop kind of good achievements. Diligence is crucial for actualizing God-given vision and overcoming distractions. Its rewards are promotion, prosperity, abundance, and fulfilment. Diligent individuals control destiny, enhance others' achievements, and achieve the crown of life through Christ's guidance.

TESTIMONIES

Entebbe, Wakiso | Entebbe, Wakiso| Lydia is grateful that she is a member of ALFC. As a member, she is also a hope giver to her generation. Lydia had been going through a difficult period in her life, but she refused to break down nor become overwhelmed believing that as a hope giver she is an oasis of hope. During this trying time she was invited to minister in a women led service of a different ministry. She literally didn’t want to go based on what she was going through. But when she attended the “Evening of Worship and wholeness” at church, the pastor prayed for her that the same grace upon his life be extended to her. She held on to this word and received strength to avail herself as a vessel in another ministry. The people there were refreshed and eight people recommitted their lives to the Lord.

Entebbe, Wakiso | Geoffrey had recently purchased a motorcycle (boda) to assist him earn a living. One evening, as he was on his way home, robbers lay in wait on a street corner and attacked him. They beat him up badly and left him for dead. Geoffrey was taken unconscious to the hospital. He was in a critical condition and remained unconscious for a whole month. In this time, while his family was in shock and dealing with the accumulating medical expenses, the Lord used his friends and homecell members as channels of help. They teamed up and cleared his medical bills and ensured he was taken care of. Today Geoffrey thanks God that he is back on his feet despite the seemingly helpless condition he went through. Glory to God.

Seek God’s Guidance

“Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?” (Luke 12:25 NLT)

King Jehoshaphat heard that he was about to be attacked by three different armies. Talk about STRESS! His response is the example you need to follow when life gets overwhelming. His story is told in 2Chronicles 20 where we learn a lesson about seeking god’s guidance: Jehoshaphat “…set himself to seek the Lord.” (Verse 3)

Years prior when his father, King Asa, faced a similar threat, he responded by collecting the silver and gold from the temple and his palace and using it to bribe one of the raiding kings to defect to his side.

That solved the immediate problem— but not without negative consequences. Although the invasion endeavour was abandoned, God became angry at his reliance on another king to help him conquer his enemies (2 Chronicles 16:1-9). So, He pronounced Asa’s punishment for the rest of his reign: “In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars.”

He would live with the stress of constantly being at war, because he had not sought after God’s counsel first. So, Jehoshaphat, his son, decided that he wasn’t going to take that route.

How about you? Do you stress out, attempting to figure out a solution instead of finding out how God wants you to deal with it? Think of the last problem you faced-. Did you rely on the opinions of others or on your own ideas, or was your first idea to seek God? God promises this:

You will seek me and nd me, when you search for me with all your heart (Jeremiah 29:13).

What’s the matter in your life? Talk over it with God. ” “
