Race Horse Population Incentive Program 2025
Program 1 Racehorses
ASHA will pay up to 50% or $6000, whichever is less, on racehorse purchases outside of Western Canada (including shipping costs)
Conditions
The horse must remain in Alberta for 12 calendar months (beginning the day the horse arrives on Alberta soil)
Payouts
40% when the horse arrives in Alberta. 20% for each of the first three starts
Program 2 Broodmares
ASHA will pay up to $6000 for broodmare purchases (including shipping costs)
Conditions
The mare must have been out of Alberta for three racing seasons. Broodmares in foal are preferred.
Payouts
50% when the mare lands in Alberta
50% when the first foal is registered
Program 4 Alberta Foals
In collaboration with the Breeder’s Incentive Program, ASHA will pay one lump sum to every registered foal born in Alberta in 2025.
Conditions
To qualify for the foal bonus, you must register your foal with Standardbred Canada. There is no application form. Standardbred Canada provides ASHA with the information. Payout amounts will be subject to available HPI and BIP funds.
