No more BMWs or Mercs on Fifth Avenue? Donald Trump doesnʼt want to see any more BMWs or Mercedes on Fifth Avenue in New York. To that end, he has made different, partly contradictory threats and offers in the trade conflict with the EU. Will it work for him? New York Cityʼs Fifth Avenue is known the world over for luxury brands for the rich and the famous, among them the latest high-end vehicles of BMW and Mercedes. But if President Trump has his way, the popular German cars soon wonʼt be driving down the famous avenue anymore. It all started during Trumpʼs election campaign in 2015 and 2016.

Back then, he promised to strengthen the domestic economy by creating jobs and boosting local production. Importing foreign goods, particularly German luxury cars, has been a thorn in his side ever since.Seeing those cars drive by Trump Tower, which is located on Fifth Avenue, was apparently the epitome of everything he does not want. Looking for evidence? So how exactly does he intend to achieve his goal?

ʼSolidarity Hoodieʼ: Kippa-capped hoody challenges anti-Semitism The hoody: It is relaxed and sporty, not particularly eye-catching. But the artists behind a new special hooded sweatshirt are putting the comfortable clothing item in a different light. Whether yellow, green, black gray or blue, all their sweatshirts have one thing in common: They all have a kippa on the hood. The so-called "Solidarity Hoodie" has taken the traditional skullcap worn by Jewish men and combined it with one of the most ubiquitous pieces of clothing to create a political fashion statement. The hoodyʼs designers, Berlin gallery owner Johann König and the Frankfurt art collective IGNAZ, have "re-

cycled a religious symbol," said Christoph Pantke, spokesperson from the Berlin König Gallerie, which owns the König Souvenir fashion label that is releasing the product. Pantke told DW that the Solidartiy hoodiesʼ main intention was to react to the"Berlin wears the kippa" rally, which in April saw thousands don a kippa and take to the streets of the German capital to demonstrate solidarity with the victim ofa recent antiSemitic attack in the cityʼs Prenzlauer Berg neighborhood that was caught on video and, more broadly, condemnacts of anti-Semitism against Jews living in Germany.

"We are interested in frictionfree trade," Merkel said during a press conference on Monday afternoon, before emphasizing that both Berlin and China are committed to "multilateral order."
