“ROCK OF AGES” The Canadian Shield captivates me with its rugged textures and timelessness. It’s humbling to realize how temporary our lives are by comparison. I remember childhood road trips to Muskoka, passing the same rocky outcrops on the side of Hwy 11, still the same today after decades

Muskoka as viewed by Barb TenEycke an ORIGINAL Landscape Artist

Barb TenEycke creates original landscape paintings using acrylic paint on canvas. Her principle residence is in Oakville Ontario, but she spends a great deal of time at her family cottage near Algonquin Park. Traveling between the GTA and cottage country on rural roads, provides her with endless inspiration. Old barns, rolling fields, coming storms, and foggy sunsets are the stuff of dreams for TenEycke. Her landscapes have a unique blend of realism and abstraction. Lighting, atmosphere, and depth, are key elements that she attempts to convey in her work.

“DARKENING SKIES” An approaching storm, the late afternoon sun, an old barn…check. Since painting this Oakville barn, it has been torn down. I feel grateful to have been able to catch a few good shots with my camera.

“UPSTREAM” Hiking through the woods at Tasso Lake. A magical place in the fall.

“BETWEEN A ROCK AND A GREEN SPACE” The rugged beauty of Muskoka. These particular rocks are along the side of Hwy 169 near Gravenhurst.

“KNEE DEEP”

“MUSKOKA MARSH This scene is inspired by the wetlands in Gravenhurst. We often take for granted the natural beauty in our daily lives.

“SUMMER SILENCE” One of my favorite places to be, listening to the lapping of the water against the rocks.

“TRANQUIL MOMENT” Trying to catch the beauty of the colours, textures, and light in the watery reflections..

“FORGOTTEN” Old wooden barns have a certain charm, and are gradually disappearing from the landscape. Sad to think they may only be around another generation or two…

“SERENE SUNRISE”

“OCTOBER MIST” Warm tones of autumn.

“FIXIN’ FOR A STORM” Late one August afternoon, when the skies turned ominous.

Why is Solar Energy One of Your Best Investments?

Solar is a sustainable, renewable and affordable clean energy option to power your home, cottage or business. With product warranties up to 25 years, solar will produce clean, zero-cost energy for decades, regardless of stock market or exchange rate volatility. This represents a significant price-hedging opportunity for homeowners, farmers and small business owners interested in becoming a more independent green power producer, or for businesses that need a lot of hot water. With Ontario’s microFIT and Feed-In-Tariff (FIT) incentive programs, solar photovoltaic (PV) systems also cushion against rising utility rates while providing a reasonable investment return over a 20 year contract. And best of all, a solar investment will help you do your part in reducing CO2 emissions, protecting the environment and developing a new source of Ontario jobs. It is win-win for Ontario investors, businesses and communities.

How Solar Works (under an Ontario microFIT contract)

Solar panels convert sunshine into direct current (DC) electricity. The electricity from the complete solar array is then converted by an inverter into alternating current (AC) electricity, normally used by household appliances. A second electrical meter measures the renewable AC electricity before being transferred outside into the local utility power grid. Your current electrical power system still operates in parallel to the renewable solar system. The electrical power consumed in your house is still supplied from the power grid and you still receive a monthly hydro bill for that consumption. However, once connected, you will receive a regular payment from OPA (through a separate account at your local utility) for the renewable energy your solar system feeds into the power grid.
