Kansas City Streetcar Extension

HTNB | Kansas City, MO
The Kansas City Streetcar Extension is a continuation of the Kansas City Streetcar that currently runs along Main Street through downtown. The Main Street Extension more than doubles the existing length of the streetcar, now connecting the downtown Rivermarket district to the University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC). Landscape improvements were needed along much of the extension corridor. More emphasis was placed on the ‘final stop’ plaza at UMKC and the green infrastructure along a portion of the extension.

Project responsibilities were to create a city-approved list of plants for both low-maintenance and green infrastructure situations, planting plan design, and subsequent revisions. This project was created with AutoCAD and Land F/X, and improved personal understanding of construction documents.

The Kansas City Streetcar Riverfront Extension will travel along the newly developed riverfront in downtown Kansas City, MO. The riverfront area is the location for the first Women’s Soccer Stadium, several new apartment buildings, and recreational areas. The extension to this area allows greater mobility both for those that live on and around the riverfront and those that want to access the amentities located on the riverfront.
