>>> My daughter is marrying someone my husband and I do not like. There are serious character flaws, and we’re not confident he will ever be able to provide for our daughter. We’ve expressed our concerns to her in numerous ways, but nothing has worked, and now they are engaged. What can we do? It sounds like this is an adult daughter. At this point in her life, you are there to be an advisor and offer some guidance when you have concerns or she has doubts. You have expressed your concerns. She doesn’t necessarily have doubts. Children, whether young or old, want to have the freedom to make their own choices...even if it leads to them making their own mistakes. We learn from each choice we make and every mistake we have to endure. You might consider that “financial security” is not something of great importance to your daughter. This is unfortunate in some ways, because this might mean her life is more difficult, and you will have to hurt for her in those moments. This will be the times, if it happens, you get to make a choice on whether or not to assist her when the financial difficulties become her reality. You don’t have to be supportive of the marriage to be supportive of your daughter. I would encourage you to engage her in wedding planning because it will probably happen, even if you don’t desire it. You don’t want to miss out on that very special moment and one time only event with your daughter just because you disagree with her choice. It is HER choice! You did your duty. She’s all grown up. It is time to let her “fly.” You don’t want to create tension and animosity during a time meant to be amazing for her and beautifully bonding for a mother and daughter.

>>> If I’m completely honest with myself, I am really scared because I’m not married yet, and I feel like all of my friends are. Am I doing something wrong as far as not meeting the right person? How can I put myself in the place to meet more good men, and how do I deal with my insecurities? First...you are NOT alone! I don’t know your age, but I know a large number of the 30-somethings (age 28-38) of today, at least in Birmingham, are struggling with these same fears and issues. This age group seems to be one of the first to put education and self before marriage and babies. Now is your time! It’s your time to establish yourself as a person and in your profession. The key is being happy and loving yourself!!! There is also the piece about putting yourself in the right places. Online dating is obviously the ONLY way people seem to think there is to meet someone. Unfortunately, it has also turned into more of a game of roulette with the “hookup” culture of today. Try putting your devices away and getting out of your house. Go out and meet new living, breathing people...not those virtual ones getting their egos stroked by how many swipes they can get while leaving frustrated, heart-broken, good people to wonder what they did wrong. Remember, the more people you know, the more opportunity you have to meet MORE people!

Let this city and its people be your “matchmakers.”

>>> We were married about a year ago, and I feel like our intimacy (sex life) is nothing like it used to be. We used to not be able to keep our hands off each other, and now the spark is gone. Is this normal? Is there something we can do? ...to see Dr. Misty’s answer, visit abouttown.io

SPRING IS IN THE HAIR KISTA HAMILTON Answers Your Questions

• Is it better for my hair if I alternate my product brands? Alternating brands is not necessary for your hair’s health, but keep in mind that product companies are constantly researching and improving products. It is always fun to try something new!

Stylist and co-owner, Tommy Owens and Rebacca decided to cut some length off for the spring to maintain a shorter look with keeping a lot of texture through the crown area to maintain volume. The actual cut is called a “LOB” (long bob). To style her hair, he used all Bumble & Bumble products. He started with Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer to smooth frizz and protect from heat on wet hair along with Surf Foam Spray to add texture and volume to the blowout. He then curled her hair to create loose waves and finished with Save The Day to smooth her ends for a polished but textured finish.

• Is using dry shampoo several times a week bad for my hair? As long as you are shampooing your hair and scalp with real shampoo 1-2 times per week, you should be just fine. If your hair becomes dry or your scalp is itchy then it is time for a real shampoo.

• What are the differences between higher-end drugstore products like Aveeno, and the salon-only products? Salon only products are made with better quality ingredients and the client in mind. When you use the products suggested to you by your stylist, who is familiar with your hair, you should have a better experience recreating the look you are after at home.

• What are some color trends you’re looking to this Spring?

Rebecca Swann at Owens Hudson

We are still seeing a lot of balayage and hand painted highlights on the forecast for spring. At Owens Hudson Salon, we have had the opportunity to bring in Aveda’s new color line and we are getting some beautiful results with it.

• Do you advise your clients on their makeup palette when you alter their color? If we are doing a tone change I do try to incorporate some talk about changing lip color. There can also be a need for adjusting eye makeup if you’ve cut fringe or some face framing layers.

5 REASONS YOU NEED TO STRENGTH TRAIN

at Steel Strength Training in Lakeview. He has a Kinesiology degree from UAB. When he’s not at the gym, he’s drinking coffee or spending time with his wife and 7 month old son. He can be reached at 205-705-9591 and nate@steelstrengthtraining.com

1) Strength Training is the Most Effective Exercise for Fat Loss

3) Strength Training Won’t Make You Bulky

One of the big concerns I hear from women is not wanting to get too bulky. Unfortunately, this is a horrible misconception that’s been propagated by both men and women in the fitness industry. Magazines and articles say things like “you need to do light weight and high reps to tone your body” and “if you want long, lean muscles you should stay away from strength training.” This couldn’t be further from the truth. This myth was likely started from all the images of super muscular female bodybuilders. But here’s the thing: 1) These women have been training incredibly hard for years and years. This doesn’t happen by accident and 2) The majority of these pictures you see are of women who take steroids. If you’re only lifting 3 days per week for 45 minutes and not sticking needles in your body, you have no chance of getting bulky.

So what’s the best way to lose fat? Well, you have to focus on nutrition. Without good eating habits, you’re going to find fat loss is an all-butimpossible process. But when it comes to exercise for fat loss, strength training is king. Unlike cardio, your body continues to burn extra calories for up to 48 hours after a strength training session. That means if you’re lifting 3 days per week, your body is almost always burning extra calories. You’re literally burning extra fat while you sleep! All from a 45 minute training session.

2) Strength Training is the Best Form of Exercise For Toning Up

We don’t just want fat loss. We want to look lean. We want muscle definition. We want to look toned! And the best way to do that is strength training. Cardio can be a good supplement to a solid strength training and nutrition plan, but cardio alone is just going to make you a smaller version of your current body. In fact, I frequently work with women who have lost weight through cardio and nutrition alone before starting our program. And while they’re happy about their weight loss, they always complain about being “flabby” and “soft.” Fortunately, they start to describe their body as becoming more “defined” and “toned” once starting our program. Oh, and they end up losing more fat doing strength training than they did doing cardio! (See point #1)

4) Strength Training is Very Safe The second most common concern

I hear from people is “Will I get hurt doing strength training” or “Isn’t strength training dangerous?” In short, no. Strength training done improperly is very dangerous. But so is brushing your teeth improperly or cooking improperly. BUT, strength training done properly is one of the safest forms of exercise. In fact, proper strength training is the best thing you can do for your joints, tendons, and ligaments. This leads to healthier joints, pain-free joints, and prevents injury! When you start a strength training program, make sure you work with a trainer who is obsessed with using perfect form. Don’t settle for anything less. It’s worth the investment.

5) Strength Training is Fun

Strength Training is a ton of fun, and who doesn’t love to have fun? You may also be surprised how accomodating it can be for you - no matter your fitness level. If you hate your exercise program, you can forget any chance of having long-term success. If you want to create a new lifestyle, you’ve got to love what you’re doing. Getting together with people just like you, picking up heavy stuff, getting stronger over time, and encouraging each other while you do it is priceless. You can’t beat the combo of crazy trainers, the Steel Strength family, and squats.

At Steel Strength Training, we give you the tools you need to transform your body, health, and lifestyle with less than 3 hours per week in the gym. Text me today at 205-705-9591.

Firsts When Getting Engaged

By: Owner and executive planner of Mariée Ami, Neillie Kirk Butler, who has been hired by brides from all over the country to create and manage the weddings of their dreams. Her reputation speaks for itself. Her strong work ethic, calm disposition and leadership has her leading one of the fasting growing wedding planning companies in the country. Mariée Ami is a premier full-service wedding planning studio specializing in planning exquisite weddings across the globe. Their name, Mariée Ami (mah ree ah me), is French for “bride’s friend” and describes the essence of our work.

1) HIRE A PLANNER Hiring a planner is not seen as a luxury item anymore — it is a necessity. The wedding world is more complicated than ever before, primarily because a bride has so many different options and choices. A bride may think she has the perfect event design and can hire all the right vendors, but there is so much more to planning a wedding. The horror stories we hear come from the lack of experience and when a bride believes she can do everything. A seamless wedding day is only created by a professional who knows the ins and outs of every detail. If you ask any wedding vendor, they will agree...A wedding day without an on-site planner is a recipe for disaster!

2) SET THE DATE Picking a date can be more stressful than you think. Finding a date that works for the ceremony location, reception venue, the family, and wishlist of vendors is like a giant puzzle. If there is a particular location or vendor that is a “must” for you, start with their calendar first and work around it. Be sure to consider the time of year and the weather. Choosing a winter date when you have always wanted to get married outside is not realistic. Remember that one date might not work for every person you want to invite, but it needs to be one that the couple and their families are genuinely excited about.

3) CREATE A BUDGET Weddings are expensive. Educate yourself on how much your dream wedding really costs. Most often, brides set a budget and expect to be able to get everything they want. An experienced planner will be able to set a realistic budget that can cover the cost of your expectations. Decide what is most important to you and start there. Often, the best weddings are the ones where the bride truly values the guest experience. They choose to spend more money on things that create a fun party or make each guest feel like they are a king or queen.

4) MAKE A GUEST LIST Knowing how many people you are expecting at your wedding is something that needs to be determined from the very beginning. Every decision you make can be affected by the guest count. What you can do for a small group doesn’t always work well for a big crowd. We often see brides fretting over tiny details when, in reality, if she is planning to have 500 guests, these little details will go completely unnoticed.

5) ESTABLISH YOUR “SENSE” OF STYLE FOR THE WEDDING This may sound crazy, but brides should think of the 5 senses when planning their big day. In other words, what will it look, feel, sound and even smell like? Your planner can help you think about all of these areas before you start hiring your vendors. You need to make sure you hire the right vendors to help carry out your vision. If you are dreaming of a luxurious, well-designed wedding, then hiring vendors that are experienced in big production is crucial. If you are wanting a more laid back and intimate gathering, then hiring vendors that have the same passion will make for a more enjoyable process and result in an event that is consistent with your plan.

Boogie on Down The DL on Booking Your Wedding Band Choosing the entertainment for your wedding reception is often left to the end of your overwhelming “Wedding To Do List”—but it shouldn’t be! We know booking a wedding band can seem like an intimidating process; most likely you have never had to do this. The easy answer - Turn to the pros! We asked three of Birimginahm’s best wedding band booking agencies for their advice on how to find the perfect band for your venue. Enjoy!

Iron City

Q&A

B & A Warehouse

What does the process of working with a booking agency look like? Is there an additional expense to use the service?

HL: We are experts! We deal with bands and weddings all day every day. We know who to use and who to stay away from. Bands work with us because we generate work for them. Therefore, we negotiate with bands for our fee not the other way around. SK: The booking agency is paid by the band. Because of the agencies’ buying power, a lot of times you will save money. RK: When a newly engaged couple comes to me to book a band, I am going to look at their venue, budget, guest count, type of music that they are interested in, and the type of reception they envision and put together a list of bands that fits their needs. There is no additional cost to using bands through Music Garden, and our exclusive bands are only available to book through us. What is a realistic budget for a live band?

HL: I think a nice starting budget is $5,000. There are bands cheaper and bands more expensive but I think this price allows you a lot of different and more professional options. SK: Minimum of $3,000 but more like $5,000-$7,000.

Winwood Equestrian

Why are these venues your favorite to work with?

HL: I love it when venues get it! These venues understand that we all work together to make an event a success. It is always nice when the venues not only work with their vendors but go above and beyond to make things as easy and seamless as possible. That’s what you get when you work with these folks!!! RK: I like working with venues who have an experienced staff that is capable of understanding all the pieces that must fit together in order to make a reception successful. Venues like Iron City, The Florentine, and spaces managed by Go Pro Event Solutions are ones that have that kind of staff and make planning a wedding simple. If a couple knows they want a live band for their reception, what are the top 3 things they should consider when they are picking out a venue?

SK: 1. Does the venue have a good area for the bands to set up? 2. How loud is the room? Rooms with a lot of hard surfaces can make it hard to play at lower volumes. 3. Is the venue receptive to bands? Some venues make it very hard for bands. What pointers would you give to a couple who is looking to book a live band for their wedding?

HL: 1. Trust your agents. 2. Know your budget. 3. Be realistic with your choices.

HL: While I love just about all venues here in Birmingham there are some that are better than others for bands. 1. Iron City – Fabulous stage, production and dance floor. It is impossible not to have a good time. 2. B & A Warehouse – Intimate lighting, unique design and a fabulous stage. 3. Winwood Equestrian – One of the best outdoor stages in the state. Photo Credit: Lang Thomas Photography, Eric and Jamie Photography and Aren Photography ABOUT

RK: If you want a live band then you really have commit to allocating a portion of your budget to the band and the costs surrounding it. SK: Use and experienced agent and an experienced agency. MEET THE PROS

PROMOTION

Getting engaged is one of the most exciting times in a woman’s life, followed closely by one of the most stressful periods if you don’t have a good support team in place. If your wedding budget allows for it, we highly recommend hiring a top-notch planner. The planner will not only help you make various decisions on who to hire for your big day – but also when. One of the first appointments they will guide you to is your wedding day makeup. During high wedding season the best makeup artists book out months in advance.

We suggest as soon as you’ve chosen your date – contact the artist for availability. You’ll want to talk with your artist in detail about your vision of the big day. Discuss your inspiration, the gown, the location – and most importantly – schedule your makeup run through. This is where the bride and the makeup artist really develop a rapport and ultimately decide your look. A great artist is not only going to achieve your wedding day makeup – she’s going to help you perfect your palette – your skin. Brides should begin preparing their skin months in advance of the wedding day. Makeup only looks as good as the skin it is on. You want to enhance the beauty you already have, not conceal and cover imperfections.

4 things

We guide brides to while prepping for their wedding day.

CLEAN YOUR PLATE. No, not the saying eat everything on it – eat cleanly. Avoid grease, high fat foods and indulging in sugars. Add Inner Beauty products to your diet. Collagen, probiotic and antioxidant supplements help keep the gut clean – and your skin glowing. The difference you will see in your skin by cleaning up your food choices and adding supplements is amazing – and as an added bonus you’ll feel better and have more energy for all of the pre-wedding events!

2

1

GET A SKINCARE REGIMEN. This is #1 for a reason. You don’t want angry, irritated skin on your wedding day. Your wedding pictures are meant to last a lifetime – get your skin ready!! Know the ingredients in your products. Find products that will nourish your skin - and steps you are willing to keep up with daily – even post wedding day. Your skin should look great for the rest of your life!

Leslie Corts (artist), Jodi Sullivan (owner), Carol Grubbs (artist)

3

WEAR SPF. Repeat WEAR SPF. Sunny days, cloudy days, warm and cold days. If we sound like we’re preaching it’s because we are! A sun-kissed look is simple for a talented makeup artist. Covering sun damage and repairing dry/rough skin is a challenge for anyone.

4

DRINK YOUR WATER. We can hydrate our skin repeatedly from the outside, but taking water in is the key to a great wedding glow.

beauté therapie specializes in organic, luxury, beauty – offering product lines that are naturally glamourous and high-performing. We offer consultations for skincare and cosmetics. Artistry available by appointment through Carol & Leslie Artistry, Located in Mountain Brook Village open Monday-Friday 10-4:00 and Saturday 11-3. PROMOTION

First Time Home Owner? Here’s what to know beforehand.

The spring housing market is already in high gear! Looking to start searching? Becca Barganier Brown, an agent with RealtySouth, shares five things to know before you purchase your first home. 1. Get into shape – financially.

Set up a meeting with a loan officer you trust (and who provides an interest rate you’re satisfied with), then take a detailed look at your finances with his or her assistance. He or she can run the numbers to help determine exactly what you can afford, as well as provide an overview of the associated costs so you aren’t blindsided. Make sure to get pre-approved – not pre-qualified – to fully move forward with the home-buying process; many agents require their clients to receive pre-approval even before seeing the first home, so be sure to check this one off your list first.. 2. Do your homework.

In other words, know what you’re looking for. You’d never set off for a vacation you haven’t yet planned, so sit down and give your future home some thought! Which neighborhoods or communities are conducive to your lifestyle? Is a garage of utmost importance? What about walkability to local restaurants and shopping? You get the idea. Developing criteria for your ideal home will significantly cut down on the time it takes to find “the one,” so carve out some time to make a list. 3. Recruit the right real estate agent for the job.

To say the least, choose an agent who will be your teammate! Crystal-clear communication, honesty and motivation are just a few key characteristics to look for when selecting someone to work with. If necessary, ask for references from past clients to see what their experience was like with the agent. You’ll be spending a whole lot of time with him or her, so make sure it’s a good fit before committing. GET SOCIAL WITH ME!

Instagram: @magiccityforsale Facebook: Becca Barganier Brown – Realtor at RealtySouth READY TO START YOUR SEARCH?

I’d love to work with you! Give me a call – or shoot me an email – for more details on my services. Cell: 205-253-7529 Email: bbrown@realtysouth.com

4. Be ready to jump, if necessary.

Considering the current nation-wide shortage of inventory and a surplus of buyers, it’s a fiercely competitive market for home buyers. It isn’t unusual these days for buyers to write an offer within hours (or even one hour) of viewing a property, so get comfortable with the idea of snatching up a home on day one. How to Make Your Wedding Stand Out

Our 2018 brides have been wanting to think more outside the box and really looking for their weddings to stand out while still reflecting their personal style. This has made us so excited! It is easy for “southern weddings” to get a bit monotonous, so when we get to spread our creative wings it is a real treat.

Handley McCrory

Owner & Executive Planner of Handley Breaux Designs 205-900-8804 handley@handleybreauxdesigns.com

1

DON’T FORGET THE GROOM A wedding is definitely tailored to the bride’s style and taste. So sometimes our poor grooms get overlooked! A good way to add a punch to the reception (or even some humor) is to do a groom’s cake centered around their favorite hobby, sport, or pet!

3

A PLACE TO RELAX

Every once in a while, we get a bride who is a color lover. Incorporating bright pops of color into your design plan will be memorable for your guests and create fabulous photography moments!

MODERN IS BACK

4

We are seeing a trend of brides wanting to shy away from traditional lace and roses and veer more towards a sleek and modern design plan. Recently we designed a wedding using mostly greenery with white orchid and calla lily accents – and it will go down as one of our all-time favorites!

2

Providing an area for guests to kick their feet up when they take a break from dancing the night away is a favorite at Handley Breaux Designs. This is a great way to incorporate the southern hospitality that we are known for while allowing the bride to pick furniture that fits her personal style.

BRIGHT POPS OF COLOR

5

KEEP IT PERSONAL

The one thing I tell all of my brides is to remember that their wedding is their day – no one else’s. That being said, the personal taste and style of the bride and her groom needs to be reflected so that their guests walk in and say, “wow, this is so them!” When your bride is adamant that she have a sit-down dinner in the garden and the weather just won’t cooperate, you move the garden inside! We work really hard for our brides to ensure that no matter what curveballs hit us, their vision can still be brought to life! When you create an indoor garden, your wedding is sure to stand out!

“

We don’t skimp on any steps. We have just built efficiencies into the system. -Tricia Holbrook

“

What exactly is the concept behind “Speed Spa”? We are providing the highest quality services for Hair, Face, Nails and Body in the most efficient time possible. We do not skimp on any steps - we just make sure we put the client ahead of ourselves and we build efficiencies into the system. What do you mean by efficiencies? You can get a manicure while getting your hair done. You stay in the same chair when your hair is being done - even when you are shampooed. You can get a manicure and a pedicure at the same time. You can buy any of our great products while receiving a service, and we will bring it to your chair. You can check out prior to actually being finished - no standing in line at a checkout counter. Tell me about your app. You can download the app, Speed Spa, in the Apple Store (working on Android should be soon!) You can use the app to make appointments, pay for products and services and to tip. You don’t have to, though! If you would rather call and make an appointment, we’ll book it for you! If you do download the app though, you can look thru our entire array of services, which are extensive and, I think, fabulous! We would love to host your bridesmaids! We would love to host a bridesmaids’ party! We can offer the group an array of services from manis and pedis to blowouts, brow shaping and tinting, spray tans and facials. We also have relationships with great caterers so the party lacks for nothing. Any of these services can be offered on the weekend of the wedding, of course. Our stylists are also amazing at updos! (See Instagram for a great video) Finally, we can bring all of this to you at your location should you prefer! What is something you are doing that you did not expect to do? Lashes! I got excited about a service called YumiLash and sent one of our Estheticians, Jessica Morris, to Los Angeles to learn how to provide this service. Basically, YumiLash is a lash “lift” that uses Keratin and tint to darken, thicken and extend each lash negating the need for mascara for many. We also do lash extensions and our esthetician, Lauren Whiting, is amazing at this! She uses natural mink and puts them on so beautifully, they look like you were born with ridiculously beautiful lashes.

Download Speed Spa Speed Spa’s app allows you to book appointments for your hair, nails, face and body. Experience a whole new type of Salon Spa.

With you and your wedding party’s hair in the hands of our master stylist, Billy, (along with our fabulous staff), there is NO look we can’t achieve! With over five years experience in fashion photography as well as five years runway work at NY fashion week, you are sure to get the exact look you want at Speed Spa!

What is Katherine Vier? Katherine Vier offers the art of custom design to women; we work with our clients to infuse their signature style into the garment using high-end fabrics and intricate details. Clients are consulted with and included in each step of the process to create the garment of their dreams.

K atherine V ier

How does the custom Process work? Katie, our designer, meets with the client for an initial consultation to discuss the client’s ideas, which will go into creating the garment. Sketches are drawn up after the initial consultation, and fabrics are hand picked and presented to clients. Once a sketch is chosen, construction begins with a made-to-measure muslin. After the initial fitting, the final piece is cut and sewn in the Katherine Vier Studio. What is Muslin? A muslin is a cotton fitting garment used to help the client visualize the final product. The muslin fitting allows Katherine Vier to test out construction ensuring the client receives the perfect fit and look. How long does the Custom Process take? Cocktail dresses typically take 3 to 4 months, evening gowns take 4-6 months, and bridal takes 4-8 months. What is your favorite part about designing? Seeing my client’s face light up in the mirror when they try on the final product for the first time! I find it even more complimentary when the spouse, fiancé/ boyfriend tells me that it is their favorite dress their significant other has ever worn! What is you personal design aesthetic? My design style incorporates both soft and feminine yet sleek and modern details, however I prioritize my client’s ideas and incorporate them into every piece. I work to make sure my clients look effortless and comfortable in their garments. I source beautiful, high-end fabrics through contacts I made in NYC and abroad. I believe I’m able to offer my clients a unique experience and allow them to stand out with a one-ofa-kind piece.

Do you ever find designing custom garments to be challenging? I love a good challenge! Every new garment presents the challenge of going above and beyond to give my clients everything they want and more. There will always be challenges whether it is construction-related or finding that specific fabric that sets the garment apart from others. It continually forces me to look for new inspirations, research construction and new techniques, and grow as a designer.

Where did you learn to design and create clothing? I taught myself to sew by reading the sewing directions from store bought patterns (my grandmother encouraged this). I then studied design at The University of Alabama, and from there I moved to New York. In NYC, I learned invaluable techniques and trade secrets I could not have learned elsewhere. I designed for Elie Tahari for 4 years. Mr. Tahari always encouraged his designers to a part of whole design process from fabrics to garment fittings. He taught me how to focus on the intricate details that set your garment apart from others. After 6 years in New York, my husband and I decided to move back south to Birmingham – this is where Katherine Vier was created. My ultimate goal is to offer women the opportunity to be a part of the designing process of their dress. Clothing should be personal, and what is cooler than a client being able to say they helped create it! What is Katherine Vier’s design philosophy? To create beautiful dresses that reflects the beautiful women who wear them. What sets you apart from other dressmakers? Typically with a dress maker, clients have to present their fabric and pattern for what they want. Katherine Vier works with clients to design and pick fabrics that suit their needs. I will create a pattern based on individual measurement and I will order all fabrics and notions you need for your garment. We take the guess work out of the process for our clients. How can clients get in touch with you? Call, text, email or you can check out my website for more information. Katherinevier@gmail.com www.katherinevier.com 504-638-2865

WHAT WE’RE DRINKING

A BIT OF THE BUBBLY

Taylor Dye, wine manager at the PIGGLY WIGGLY, recommends some of her favorite sparkling wines at different price points for weddings and engagement parties.

Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label Champagne Brut $49.99

Champagne is synonymous with luxury, and it is hard not to feel luxurious while sipping on a glass of Veuve Clicquot. Expect layers of flavors from pear and grapefruit to fresh ginger and cream, with impeccable structure and balance. It is the perfect wine to toast with on the big day.

Los Monteros Cava $8.99

A value-driven sparkler from Spain, this is brimming with citrus, apple and peach. Enjoyable by itself or a great candidate if you’re making mimosas to sip on during pre-wedding festivities.

Roederer Estate Brut $19.99

Produced by the Champagne house Roederer in the cool Anderson Valley region of California, Roederer Estate over delivers for its price. It is richly textured with hints of roasted nuts and baking spices while still staying fresh on the palate. It was listed as #25 on Wine Spectator’s Top 100 this year.

Belstar Prosecco $11.99

This light and aromatic bubbly from Italy is hard not to like; it is soft and fresh with notes of white peach, pear and fresh cut flowers. Its attractive package is a standout feature as well.

Veuve du Vernay Rosé $8.99

If you prefer a rosé, this wine from the South of France packs quite a punch for its low price point. Aromas of fresh strawberries and roses glide into a creamy, toasty finish.
