Orchestras in the Community

Bath Philharmonia joined forces with 110 students from local schools as part of the School Voices project. BBC Philharmonic Orchestra launched The Weekend Orchestra, inviting instrumentalists and singers of all abilities to perform in Salford in September. As part of Dementia Action week, Bristol Beacon highlighted its work on Our Music Club, comprising weekly sessions of creative activity and live music to people living with dementia, their carers and supporters. Help Musicians recognised Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK with the launch of a digital mental health platform. Royal Northern College of Music students and alumni performed as part of Migrant Voices, a five-day artist residency celebrating the diversity of people and their music across Greater Manchester.

Royal Scottish National Orchestra celebrated five years of the Scottish Government’s Baby Box, adding two newly recorded tracks to its Astar app, and marked the centenary of composer George Walker’s birth by announcing a new recording of his Lyric with Linn Records.
