HD-300
Workstation for Band Directors
THE ULTIMATE BAND DIRECTOR COMPANION The HD-300 makes every music teacher’s job easier by combining tools to help students improve rhythm, intonation, and tone production in one intuitive package. One-touch transposition between C, Bb, Eb and F makes it very easy to help students find their note while reading from a transposed score. The simplified user interface, new recording & sound-back features, and the addition of the optional mobile app, build on the success of the HD-100 and HD-200.
Tuner • Metronome • Audio Recorder • Transposition Tool • Intonation Trainer
HD-300 Assistant App (optional) HD-300 Assistant is the iOS App that controls the HD-300 remotely, and offers several additional easy-to-use features, including a powerful rhythm function, a user friendly intonation training tool, and much more. CA.YAMAHA.COM
ONTARIO BAND ASSOCIATION PROVINCIAL BAND FESTIVAL
WELCOME FROM THE FESTIVAL COMMITTEE! FEBRUARY 12TH-16TH
We’re so pleased to welcome you back to the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto for our 22nd Annual Provincial Band Festival! There are not enough words to say “thank you” to our sponsors – without you we would never have survived and thrived for over two decades! And we must add special acknowledgement to the OBA’s Patron sponsor – Yamaha Music Canada. Likewise, a huge shout-out to Kenny Kwan and the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto – thank you for your welcoming support and co-operation in creating a fantastic new home for our Festival. We’d like to take this opportunity to (re-)introduce the Festival Committee to you, since there have been a few changes when we changed venues. There are the old hands… Mark Caswell (Festival Advisor), Pratik Gandhi (Syllabus Guru and Performance Hall Manager), Andria Kilbride (Festival Treasurer), Heather Aitken (all things admin), and the new kids on the block… Jessica Puskar (Festival Co-ordinator and Performance Hall Manager), Laura Houghton (Student Volunteer Manager), and Natalie Carroll (Digital Programme Designer). While we handle the logistical responsibilities of the Festival, we can’t do it without the dedicated teachers who personally help recruit the teams of student volunteers who act as Festival ambassadors, guides, equipment movers, salespeople, and so much more. A big “thank you” to Beth Facchini, Jeff Wrigglesworth, Graham Church, Stuart Siu, Dan Austin, Dorothy Vreeswyk-Kidd, Cameron Rawlins, Scott Harrison, and Jessica Puskar for encouraging your musicians to be a part of something pretty awesome. Our 21st Annual Directors’ Social will be sponsored by Long & McQuade, in partnership with Yamaha Canada, to ensure that we can meet as colleagues and friends on Friday, February 16th, 6:30 p.m. We are looking forward to seeing you all there and catching up with everyone’s news – it’s been too long! We have all worked hard to get to this week, thankfully with less chaos than last year, and with a greater degree of familiarity and “normal”. As each of you lifts your baton, the rest of us will be embraced by your beautiful music. Have a great Festival, everyone. Best Wishes, Your OBA Provincial Band Festival Committee
ANNUAL DIRECTORS’ SOCIAL February 16TH | 6:30PM The Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto 5183 Sheppard Avenue East, Scarborough, M1B 5Z5
The Ontario Band Association, with the support of Long & McQuade and Yamaha Canada, is proud to invite you to the Annual Directors’ Social on Friday, February 16th! This invitation is extended to all current members of the Ontario Band Association, Festival participants (adults), as well as adjudicators and Provincial Band Festival sponsors. We will be celebrating the successful completion of our 21st Annual Provincial Band Festival and presenting the Festival Awards and Scholarships. The evening will also include complimentary appetizers and bar, a special presentation, and the keynote address by Bill Thomas. Please, we invite you to bring a guest. Our goal for the Directors’ Social is to provide a venue and atmosphere to celebrate our passion for education and our love of music. It is one of only a few opportunities that we music educators have to socialize during the academic year, and of course, there is as always a lot of catching up to do! I look forward to seeing you at the Social. Best wishes, Your OBA Provincial Band Festival Committee
Open to ALL CURRENT members of the OBA! Participation in the Festival is not required.
