WELCOME ABOARD

![]()

Welcome aboard your new Home on the seas. Becoming a Resident of The World is both a privilege and a pleasure, and we are delighted to have you as a part of this remarkable Community. Within these pages, you’ll find everything you need to know about life on board – from dining and services to daily rhythms and traditions. A clear understanding of these details ensures a smoother, more confident experience for you and enriches the harmony of life at sea.

All forms mentioned below are available on Navigator.
To ensure smooth arrivals and departures, Residents are asked to share their travel plans with Ship Staff as early as possible, and no later than 72 hours in advance. This allows your name to appear on the Clearance Officer’s arrival list and helps avoid any delays with security clearance. It is each Resident’s responsibility to meet all requirements for visas, vaccinations, and embarkation or debarkation restrictions. Full details can be found in the Pre-Arrival section on Navigator.
Family & Friends joining you on board are warmly welcomed. Guests staying in your Residence must complete a Voyage Information Form, available on Navigator. Please provide this information at least 72 hours before arrival at the designated port (96 hours in U.S. ports). A passport copy, passport number, and date of birth will be required for embarkation. For questions, contact the Resident Services Coordinator (see Directory).
GUEST ONBOARD CHARGES
To ensure onboard charges are properly routed, Residents hosting Guests in their Apartments should complete an Onboard Charges Authorization Form and return it to Reception (see Directory).
Visitors are welcome aboard with advance notice. Please submit a Visitor Request Form at least 72 hours before arrival at the designated port (96 hours in U.S. ports).
Due to international regulations, late requests cannot be accommodated. Some ports require additional advance notice; updates will be posted on Navigator. For assistance, contact Reception (see Directory).
A great way to get to know your fellow Residents is via the Our Community page on Navigator, which offers personalized profiles. Easy filtering shows a Resident’s sailing dates, bio, photo, country, interests, and more. Information can be searched by name, Residence, or interest area. With the opt-in feature, Residents can share their contact details reciprocally with other Residents. This page also shows Guests’ and Social Residents’ sailing dates, photos, and more.
Please note that, in accordance with the Residence Agreement, the Ship Owner also maintains a confidential register of Residents that includes names and addresses.
For everyone’s peace of mind, Residents and their Guests are asked to complete an Emergency Contact Form, which will be kept on file. For assistance, contact the Resident Services Coordinator (see Directory).
Visa requirements and health notifications for upcoming ports of call are available on Navigator. Residents benefit from The World’s corporate account with CIBTvisas which provides dedicated support for securing necessary documentation for international travel. Guests and Exclusive Resorts members are asked to arrange their own visas through a travel agent or visa service.
Many nations enforce cabotage laws, which restrict merchant ships from transporting passengers between two ports within the same country. This means that Residents & Guests may not embark in one domestic port and debark in another unless The World first calls at a designated “foreign-far” port. Consult Navigator for details when planning travel in cabotage-regulated countries.
All passports should be valid for at least six months beyond your planned travel dates, with a minimum of six blank pages available for visas and entry stamps. It is each individual’s responsibility to ensure there are enough blank pages. Temporary passports are not accepted in many destinations and, therefore, cannot be used to embark.
Some countries allow citizens to apply for a second passport of the same nationality. This can expand travel flexibility, particularly if a primary passport is being used for visa processing. Applications must be made in person; Ship Staff are unable to obtain passports on a Resident’s behalf. For guidance, contact the Director of Front Office Services or Reception (see Directory). More information is also available on Navigator.

By boarding The World and using the services offered by, through, or in connection with the Ship, Residents expressly represent that they have read, understand, and fully accept the Terms of Carriage. These Terms are binding and govern the rights and responsibilities of Residents as outlined in the Residence Agreement, including its exhibits: “Terms of Carriage” and “Ship Rules.”
It is very important that each Resident be thoroughly familiar with these documents. Copies of the Terms of Carriage are available online or through the Resident Services Coordinator (see Directory) and can also be accessed via Navigator.
U.S.-BASED CORRESPONDENCE
All U.S.-based correspondence and packages should be addressed as follows:
Resident Name and Residence Number
The World 1551 Sawgrass Corporate Parkway, Suite 200
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33323
Florida Office Phone: +1 954 538 8400
PARCEL SERVICE
All regular mail and small packages should be sent to the Florida Office for consolidation and shipment to The World. The Ship receives approximately 30 mail deliveries per year. For shipping oversized items or handling special requests, Residents may contact the Hotel Operations Coordinator (see Directory).
Parcel size maximums are subject to U.S. Postal Service limits and are enforced for all mail sent from the Florida Office. Residents are encouraged to review weight and dimension guidelines on the Mail & Shipping page on Navigator in the Pre-Arrival section. During visits to remote locations, delivery times may occasionally be extended due to courier or Customs processes.
Residents requesting incoming or outgoing services while on board must complete a Service Request and Cost Acknowledgement Form, available via Navigator or at Reception. This form confirms the Resident’s understanding and acceptance of all charges for on- and off-loading services, including Customs, freight, and agency handling fees.
Please note that items of a sensitive nature, such as certain medical supplies, may be subject to inspection or confiscation by Customs.
Additional costs may apply for on- and off-loading services, including Customs fees, port agency handling, stevedores, or possible forklift and crane charges. These fees cannot be quoted at the time of request and are typically billed by the port agency one to three months after a port of call. Storage and freight charges for packages, furniture, or other items shipped to a Resident on board are subject to the same process. Only specific ports can accommodate on- and off-loading services. For guidance and coordination, Residents may contact the Logistics Coordinator (see Directory).
For urgent matters or emergencies from shoreside, Residents may contact the Ship via the 24-hour emergency line listed in the Directory.
Due to satellite and technical limitations, Residents requiring fax services are encouraged to use a subscription service such as eFax. Additional information and instructions are available on Navigator.
OCCUPANCY GUIDELINES
All Residences accommodate a maximum of two Guests per bedroom.
Limited storage is provided based on the square footage of each Residence. Due to the configuration of the storage areas, furniture and larger items cannot be accepted into the Resident Stores. Items such as wine, artwork, electronic equipment, and dive tanks may not be stored. Residents should not store items on behalf of Guests in the Guest Stay Program. For guidance and inquiries, contact the Director of Front Office Services (see Directory) and refer to the Resident Storage Policy on Navigator.

Residents considering renovations should meet with the Staff Captain and Resident Services Coordinator to review the Ship Rules and Apartment Refurbishment Guidelines available on Navigator. Approval is required for all modifications, and specific permissible time slots must be observed. Refurbishment Time Slot dates are posted on Navigator.
Standard Residence Homeowner’s Insurance, arranged by Marsh Ltd. and underwritten by markets through Lloyd’s of London, is included within Resident maintenance fees. The policy provides coverage for Apartment and Studio contents, fixtures and fittings, clothing, works of art, jewelry, and other personal property, subject to specified inner limits and deductibles. Liability coverage to protect Residents against claims for bodily injury or property damage while on board is also included. Residents may elect to purchase additional coverage, including increased inner limits (e.g., for jewelry, art, or general contents), and Guest Coverage, which extends protection to the belongings of authorized guests while on board. Apartments participating in the Guest Stay Program are subject to additional exclusions. Full policy details are available on Navigator.
To uphold the highest standards of service for Residents & Guests embarking on The World all Apartments must undergo thorough cleaning and preparation prior to arrival. Clear expectations regarding Apartment availability are essential to ensure a seamless transition. For same-day turnarounds (especially for Residents
in a Partnership), departing Residents & Guests must vacate their Apartments by 10:00hrs, allowing sufficient time for servicing. The designated embark time for arriving Guests or returning Residents is 17:00hrs.
Onboard charges are invoiced across three accounts: Incidental, F&B Minimum, and Fredy’s Deli Marketplace. Preliminary statements for the Incidental Account are available by the fourth day of the month, with billing completed on the fifth. Payments are accepted via credit card (with 5% credit card merchant fees applied) or other forms pre-registered with the Ship Manager, Onboard Accounting and Finance. Statements and further details are accessible on Navigator. Settlement should be completed by the fifth day of each month, and no later than the 15th.
Residents must consult the Resident Services Coordinator before purchasing or upgrading any electrical equipment to ensure compliance with Ship safety standards. Equipment must be rated for either 110-120 Volts or 220-230 Volts at 60 Hz and meet specified insulation, grounding, and independent testing standards. Bathroom-use appliances must be double insulated and fitted with the correct plug (plugs will not be changed on equipment for bathrooms due to safety reasons). Travel and power adapters are not permitted as permanent solutions, and they should never be used in a bathroom. Appliances such as irons, hair dryers, curling irons, and shavers will not be repaired on board, and the Ship is not responsible for stocking spare parts for Resident-purchased equipment.
All electrical equipment intended for use at 220-230 Volts, 60 Hz should generally not exceed a power consumption of 3,600 watts. Equipment must be fitted with either a Schuko plug (type F) or Europlug (type C). Any device with a metal base or body must be double insulated or properly grounded. Appliances intended for use in bathrooms must be double insulated and equipped with the correct plug; plugs will not be changed on equipment for safety reasons. All equipment must have been independently tested and approved by a recognized laboratory, such as Underwriters Laboratories (UL), ETL-SEMKO (ETL), DEMKO (D), NEMKO (N), FIMKO (FI), TUV, or VDE, typically indicated with a sticker or symbol on the appliance. For further information or assistance, contact the Resident Services Coordinator (See Directory).

All equipment designed for 110-120 Volts, 60 Hz should generally not exceed a power consumption of 1,900 watts and must use a standard American plug (type A or type B). Devices with metal components must be double insulated or properly grounded. Equipment intended for bathroom use must also be double insulated and fitted with the correct plug, with plugs remaining unaltered for safety reasons. All equipment must be tested and approved by a recognized independent laboratory, such as Underwriters Laboratories (UL), ETL-SEMKO (ETL), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), TUV, or VDE, as indicated by a sticker or symbol on the device. Travel adapters and power converters are not suitable as permanent solutions, nor should they be used in bathrooms. For further information or assistance, contact the Resident Services Coordinator (See Directory).
The World uses an IPTV distribution system in all Residences, offering standard and high-definition digital channels, an Electronic Program Guide, Personal Video Recorder, Video-on-Demand, and more. Residents require separate DVD/Blu-ray players or CD players for media playback. Availability and quality of content may vary by geographic region. Prior to purchasing or upgrading any electrical or electronic equipment, Residents should confirm specifications with the Resident Services Coordinator (see Directory). Multisystem-capable TV sets are preferred.
The safety and well-being of all Residents & Guests is The World’s highest priority. This section provides comprehensive guidance on safety protocols, emergency procedures, medical services, and onboard training to ensure preparedness at all times. Residents are encouraged to consult Housekeeping, the Medical Center, or any Staff member for assistance and to refer to the Directory for key contacts.
International safety regulations require that all Residents & Guests participate in a pre-departure Safety Briefing prior to departure from the embarkation port, and thereafter every six months. Emergency drills are conducted at least once every three months, during which the general emergency alarm will be sounded and Crew will guide Residents & Guests to their assigned Muster Stations. Attendance is mandatory for Residents & Guests, while Crew drills, held weekly, do not require Resident or Guests participation. As always while on board, pay close attention to all announcements delivered by the Crew and over the public address system. Certain services will not be available during this time.
The general emergency alarm consists of seven short blasts followed by one long blast on the Ship’s public address system. Muster Stations are located on Deck 6 around The Plaza area. When Residents & Guests in their Residences hear this signal, they should gather warm clothing and essential medication before proceeding to their Muster Station; those away from their Residences should proceed directly to their Muster Station. Crew members will provide life jackets, blankets, and special life jackets for children as needed.
All accommodations feature at least two escape routes, clearly marked with lowlevel lighting and green directional signage. Housekeeping Attendants thoroughly search all areas to ensure safe evacuation. Residents & Guests should remain calm, follow directions, and avoid elevators. Detailed Muster Station information is posted on the entry door of each Residence. If smoke is in the area, Residents & Guests should remain low, cover their mouth and nose, and follow the low-level lighting strips and green directional signs. Assigned Crew will be positioned to assist. Listen carefully to announcements as they will provide important information. Do not use the elevators as it is possible to become trapped in the event of a power failure. Upon embarkation, notify a Housekeeping Attendant or contact the Reception Desk assistance to reach an assigned Muster Station.
Smoking and open flames are strictly prohibited in all Residences and most public areas. The only designated smoking area is the Cigar Club on Deck 5, equipped with ashtrays. Fire alarms should be treated seriously; upon discovering smoke or fire, Residents or Guests must immediately call for help and activate one of the red manual call points by breaking the glass and/or calling Emergency from any telephone on board. Call points are located throughout the Ship. Residences with kitchens are equipped with fire extinguishers, which must remain accessible at all times. Luggage or other items should not obstruct safety equipment or emergency escapes.
Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is only permitted in the Cigar Club on Deck 5. Smoking is strictly prohibited in all other public spaces, open decks, Residences, and balconies.
Medical services on The World are provided for a fee by the Medical department, directly supervised by the Staff Captain and, ultimately, the Captain. The Medical Center, located on Deck 4, is staffed by a full-time qualified physician and nurse. All medical personnel are fully licensed in general and emergency medicine and maintain advanced certifications, including ACLS and PALS, ensuring comprehensive care for all Residents & Guests. Residents should provide information about medical conditions, medications, and allergies to support timely and effective care. Communication procedures with shoreside consultants and hospitals are done in strict confidence in compliance with HIPAA guidelines. Medical information is transmitted securely among medical personnel.
The Medical Director oversees medical operations, advises Management, monitors global health developments, and collaborates closely with onboard Doctors and medical Staff. The World meets and exceeds CDC, USPHS Vessel Sanitation Program, and National Center for Environmental Health guidelines.
Residents are strongly encouraged to bring sufficient quantities of prescription medication when embarking. While the Ship’s pharmacy maintains a broad inventory, certain medications may not be available in remote regions. Residents should notify the Medical Center in advance if they are likely to run out of regularly taken medication. Sending prescription medication to the Florida Office for forwarding to the Ship is strongly discouraged, as local Customs authorities often do not clear such shipments and freight forwarders often refuse them.
Allianz, a leading international insurance provider, has agreed to offer short-term emergency healthcare insurance for purchase to Residents through its Worldwide Care program tailored for global business travelers. This plan is specifically designed to cover the worldwide emergency healthcare needs of Residents while they travel outside of their principal country of residence for up to 300 travel days within the year. Global Rescue is for emergency medical evacuation only and membership is included in Residents’ maintenance payments. Family and Friends of Residents have the option to enroll in Allianz Insurance and Global Rescue services at an additional cost; doing so is strongly suggested to provide added peace of mind while traveling aboard The World. Additional details can be found on Navigator in the Insurance page section.
The Medical Center is equipped with advanced emergency, trauma, and diagnostic equipment for adults and children, including cardiac monitors, defibrillators, infusion pumps, ventilators, portable oxygen, trauma immobilization supplies, wheelchairs, and comprehensive emergency kits. The facility also includes a laboratory, pharmacy, and X-ray capabilities. A complete list of onboard medical tests and equipment can be found on Navigator.
Emergency drills for Hospital and Stretcher teams occur weekly, with monthly specialized drills. Several certified Crew Members are trained to assist in medical emergencies. All Officers and Crew are SOLAS-required to complete STCW training,
which includes first-aid instruction. Officers and Crew receive ongoing training in CPR, transport of injured Residents, and the use of automated and manual defibrillators, ensuring preparedness for all medical emergencies.
Residents seeking more information about safety procedures, medical capabilities, or emergency services are encouraged to contact the Medical Director or Resident Services Coordinator (see Directory).
The World voluntarily adheres to the Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act (CVSSA) of 2010. In alignment with our commitment to reducing environmental impact, the Security & Safety Guide is provided to all Residents & Guests in an electronic format. Printed copies are available upon request. For assistance or to request a printed copy, please contact the Director of Security & Safety (see Directory).
For the most current information on onboard policies and procedures, please consult Navigator.
