Project 3 North-West Cambridge Eddington Masterplan Redevelopment
❑ This task conducted, throughout my second year of my architecture degree studies involved re-creating a masterplan development for the north-west Cambridge Eddington scheme (masterplan pictured top left) which opened to the public on the 9th September 2017. ❑ The following are my proposed concepts and re-designed development. The road layouts and open areas have all been devised upon inspiration from the unique qualities of the landscaping around Cambridge. This particularly relates to the significant presence of courtyards and vast greenspaces largely located on the Cambridge University Campuses scattered across the city. ❑ The building typologies and contents of the site such as the residences, communal areas, greenspaces, superstore and school have all been retained however the formation and layouts of the structures, pathways, public areas and roads have all been revised.
Proposed Site Plan & Analysis Proposed primary school: located North of the site to create sufficient separation space between the school site and the remaining residential sector.
Library: with learning resources, study spaces, communal spaces, private residences allocated for professors, teachers and staff members.
Here a dead-end road and car park is proposed to be especially allocated to the school site. Additionally, multiple connecting pathways allow for easy access on foot.
High Class Private Residential sector: to contain apartments finished to the highest standard and furnished to the finest quality and bespoke styles. Only indented for private occupants.
Tier 3 Residential Sector: High class accommodation for students only. Sector to contain communal spaces, cafes & lounges for user convenience and leisure.
Tier 1: Residential Sector: Basic student accommodation available at the lowest price compared to that of other residences onsite.
Tier 2 Residential Sector: Average yet well-furnished student accommodation with a variety apartment selection. Sector to contain communal spaces and recreational spaces.
Local superstore: proposed for residents and members of the general public.
Public residential sector: not available for students intended only for private letting. To be purposely isolated and situated away from remaining site sectors which shall be primarily utilized by students. Also, to contain communal spaces, lounges, café’s, sports and recreational facilities.
Masterplan Site Concept
Utilizing Rhino 3D, I began creating massing studies of the structures and forms I wished to present on site. From this I have developed it further by conveying my finalized concept and layout for each sector on site. My intentions regarding the aesthetics of my scheme were to establish an ornate yet robust and rigid form for each of the structures created within the masterplan. This would include multiple instances of repetition and variation with the addition of platforms being offset allowing space for viewing. I have also incorporated underpasses and overhead walkways connecting neighboring structures whilst allowing pedestrian access underneath. These features are evident throughout the plan as shown particularly in the render above and the bottom left render displaying the school. Another aspect I have incorporated within my design is courtyards and outdoor recreation for all areas of the site. In my opinion it is essential to provide sufficient natural greenspace for the freedom and wellbeing of residents, students, children, shoppers and members of the public walking by.
Proposed Primary School
Ground Floor The proposed layout for is structured for the utmost ease of the primary schools' occupants. Both key stages are separated on ground level however access to either area of the building is present on the 1st floor. The addition of courtyards has remained consistent throughout this school design whereby I have proposed outdoor spaces within both key stages and a central communal space for all. Each individual room purpose is outlined by the key to the right.
Area Key
1st Floor This floor consists of rooms that intend to serve primarily for more creative subjects such as arts and drama studios. Here, views out upon the site’s surrounding landscape will be provided in addition to extensive space for effective learning. The two key stages are merged via an overhead walkway allowing room for access on ground level in addition to effortless access across either side of the structure.

Project 3 - Luxury African Residence This project consisted of designing a luxury residence to conform to a traditional Senegalese style apartment within the capital city of Dakar. My in involvement consisted of completing the initial conceptual design, floor plans and elevation to then be validated by a local architect for progression to design approval. My intentions with regards to the conceptual design of this project were to create a structure that would be multi-faceted with the inclusion of an exoskeleton for not only aesthetic but also functional purposes. Due to the humid local climate within the country, many urban residences are designed to protect inhabitance from overwhelmingly high temperatures even upon outdoor areas such as balconies and rooftops. Therefore, I felt it was my duty to retain this approach in my design. Furthermore I intend on providing allowance for spacious apartments on each floor and incorporating a communal rooftop area to accommodate for the luxury demand of aesthetic style and standard that this development intends to deliver to residents.

Project 4: Lambeth Residential Highrise This assignment involved the design a residential skyscraper within Waterloo, London. After initially establishing a manifesto; outlining my personal aspirations for the design of this project, a series of conceptual studies followed by a final proposal was produced. My intentions for the outcome of this project were to create a moderately luxurious scheme with the capacity to accommodate mostly middle to upper class citizens. My specific deign intentions were based upon the existing site context, local building typologies and ultimately the high standard of living for inhabitants that I aspired to achieve within this scheme.

Final Proposal
This podium layout is designed for both occupants of the building to utilize as well as the public. Providing efficient access to either end of the site via an underpass and elevated platforms for those who may wish to enjoy a pleasant view of the site. Overall, this scheme intents to create a vibrant public atmosphere in addition to being an aesthetically pleasing and effective point of access and congregation for residents.
